1. Assess Your Power Requirement

Total power requirement: 120+140+100+30 = 390 watts
2. Identify the VA Rating of the Inverter You Need
VA stands for Volt ampere. It is the current and voltage supplied by the inverter to the different equipment in your house. When an inverter operates at 100% efficiency rate, then the power requirement of the electricals and the power supplied by the inverter match. However, 100% efficiency does not really exist in real-life scenarios.
Consequently, most inverters only range from 60% to 80%. This efficiency is also called the power factor of an inverter. In simple words, it can be understood as the ratio of power required by the appliances to power supplied by the home inverter. Many times, the home inverter price also depends on this power factor rate.
So, Power Supplied (VA) = Power Requirement / Power factor
Let’s assume the power factor of the inverter is 0.7
VA = 390/ 0.7 = 557 VA
3. Know the Battery Your Inverter Needs
The battery is the most vital component of an inverter. The lifespan and performance of an inverter greatly depend on the quality of the battery. Most people opt for a low home inverter price and compromise on the battery. But this should never be the case.
The battery capacity is the next big thing that you need to determine. The battery capacity decides the number of backup hours, i.e. for how many hours will the inverter run all of the equipment. It is expressed in Ampere hours.
In the market, you can easily find inverters with battery capacities of 100 Ah, 150Ah, 180Ah, etc. To decide what is best for your requirements, you need to do this reverse calculation.
Battery Capacity = Power Requirement * Back Up Hours / Battery Voltage
