Choosing the best photographer for your project here in Dubai or anywhere in the world is a tough call whether you are an advertising agency or you are looking for Photographer for your family portraits or even for a destination wedding here in Dubai.

In photography there are so many different types and every professional photographer will have their favourite genre, most of the time it takes time for Photographers to master their type of Photography that they love to continue and it's always been a trial and error travel. It took more than ten years for me to understand what I really love to shoot and figuring out ways to master it.

I Hope this article will help few of you to choose the right photographer for your upcoming projects and create something beautiful together.

Browse through Photographer portfolio well

It's best to go through Photographer’s website and social media pages in detail so you can understand whether he/she fits well with your genre of Photography you are looking for. These days most of the Photographers treat their instagram as the same as a photography website and most of the time you can see more behind the scene images in social media posts. Also try to keep 2 or 3 options and choose the best out of it so if your final photographer is busy or not fitting to your budget then you can fall back into plan B and C easily.

Quality always comes with a price tag

You can always get a great deal with a new photographer to the industry and town, I can easily tell you that perfection comes with time and experience. In my ten years of experience here in Dubai as a photographer, Once I lost my memory card data and after that never did any shoot with a single card, always kept my MacBook and copied everything before I left the studio or location. With time, I started using quality lighting equipment, tethering cables and started renting studios that can be trusted. These kinds of things you learn with time and these real life experiences make your shoot day easy for you and your clients.

Decide on the style with reference images

It’s always better to come up with a mood board of few reference images to communicate your ideas with your photographer, Pinterest is a great tool to do so. It always helps you to decide and explain Photographer what you are really looking for and in the same way it's very easy for a photographer to understand what the client is expecting out of him. Same time, leave a creative space for the Photographer to bring his style and quality to the shoot. Reference images help really well with fashion photography, food Photography and even any type of Photography or videography project where there is a team involved. It’s always easy to communicate with visual references so everyone will be on the same page on the shoot day.

Try to meet the photographer in person before the shoot day

Here in Dubai everyone is so busy and most of the time new clients don’t have enough time to meet you in person, I suggest making some time and meeting photographers personally. It can create a better bond with the photographer which results in the smooth running of the shoot day.

Do your pre-production planning well

Always plan your shoot day in advance. Make sure the photographer or yourself visit the shoot location prior whether it’s an outdoor and indoor shoot. Book your stylist, makeup artist and crew members in advance and send them a detailed confirmation before the shoot day. I suggest to send all crew members a reminder one day before the shoot through any one of the official platforms to notify them easily.
