Mrs. Shawn Koichi Kushiyama

Miss Bridget Anne Lowry and Mr. Shawn Koichi Kushiyama were united in marriage during a sunset ceremony overlooking Lake Peigneur on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at Rip Van Winkle Gardens in New Iberia, Louisiana by Pastor Andy Tribe.

Miss Lowry is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Lowry. Mrs. Lowry is the former Kathryn Sawvel. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. William M. Lowry of Lafayette and the late Mr. William M. Lowry and the late Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Sawvel. Bridget is a 2005 graduate of Teurlings Catholic High School and a 2009 graduate of The University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and Ragin' Jazz Dance Team. She received her Masters Degree from the University of Houston in 2012. She is employed by National Oilwell Varco as an Instructional Designer.

Mr. Kushiyama is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Kushiyama of Shrewsbury, New Jersey. Mrs. Kushiyama is the former Barbara Bell. Shawn is the grandson of Mrs. Muneo Kushiyama of Honolulu, Hawaii and the late Mr. Muneo Kushiyama and Mrs. Robin J. Bell of Bradenton, Florida and the late Mr. Robin J. Bell. He is a 2004 graduate of Red Bank Regional High School and a 2008 graduate of Boston College where he was a member of the track team. He received his Masters Degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2010. He is employed as a Geologist with Shell Oil Company.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore an Essence of Australia ivory fit and flare gown of regency organza and lace with an illusion neckline and back and embellished with floral lace motifs throughout the gown with the hemline finished with scalloped lace. A fingertip veil complemented her gown. She carried a bouquet that was embellished with her mothers wedding veil.

The Matron of Honor, Mrs. Ashley Laville LeBlanc attended the bride. Bridesmaids included Miss Kristen Kushiyama, sister of the groom, Mrs. Chelsea Link Meng, Miss Meghan Connell and Miss Caroline Brignac. The bridesmaids wore flowing floor length ginger lux chiffon gowns with a halter neckline designed by Dessy.

The Best Man was Kyle Patterson. Groomsmen were Mr. Jeffrey Lowry, brother of the bride, Mr. Jake Zorski, Mr. Pat Mellea, and Mr. Jeff Klatzky.

Flower girl was Miss Eleanor Lowry, niece and godchild of the bride and ring bearer was Master Jasper Sawvel, cousin of the bride.

Ushers were Mr. David Lowry, uncle and godfather of the bride and Mr. Steve Bell, uncle of the groom.

A reception followed at the Bayless Center at Rip Van Winkle Gardens.
