So your vows have been exchanged and it is time to head off to your reception and party like you’ve never partied before, after all it doesn’t get bigger or better than your wedding day. If you want live music playing at your reception, then there are many great live bands for hire out there plus wedding DJ’s and wedding singers. But first, you must check with the venue where you’re going to hold your reception, to see what type of live music they allow. Some venues may have strict restrictions when it comes to music. The main restriction would be that they may have a sound limiter in place. A sound limiter is an electrical device that measures the amount of volume, or noise, in a room. If that volume reaches a certain level the sound limiter is designed to cut the electric supply to the stage. This would ruin any live entertainment you have in place.

It’s very important to select the right music because the music will become a pervading presence all throughout your wedding day. Music will create the atmosphere and it will set the mood for your wedding day.

You could go with a DJ for your wedding

For the reception, you have a choice of a DJ or live music in the form of a live band or a wedding singer. The best thing about a DJ is you can request to have all of your favourite songs on the playlist and they will play music all the way through the evening reception. There are plenty of DJs that are available to play for wedding receptions. You could always check out the DJs at Music8 agency. Once you’ve settled on a DJ, it would be a good idea to have a one-on-one with them Just to explain what type of entertainment and mood you want to have during the evening reception.

Something a little more formal

For more formal weddings, classical groups, pianists, and instrumentalists are more appropriate. A string quartet is an excellent choice if you are getting married in a church. They will perform while everyone is arriving and waiting for the ceremony to begin setting the perfect ambiance. They will not only play classical music they can also perform more modern classic tunes which maybe more suitable for your friends and family.

Solo wedding singer

You could choose a solo singer for your wedding that would learn and perform your special song for the first dance and bring a magical moment you will never forget. There are many different solo wedding singers to choose from including a solo acoustic artist who can bring soul and gravitas to an evening as they sing your favourites songs as well as family-friendly classics. The most popular choice is a singer that performs to high-quality backing tracks with most having extensive back-catalogue of styles and genres from which to choose from. You could choose a Rat Pack style singer in the Frank Sinatra mold or even a surprise singing waiter.

Wedding musicians for hire

There is a huge choice of wedding musicians with the likes of a pianist, harpist or possibly a saxophonist. Take your time to find the right one that will fit into the theme or style of your wedding.

Hire a live band

If you want to have a great time at your wedding reception, then hiring a band is probably the way to go! The energy of a live band would create an amazing atmosphere and would keep the dance floor full.

Before hiring a band check out their videos and repertoire to make sure it suits your style of wedding. It’s best to hire a band that is experienced with wedding receptions and Music8 would be the perfect choice to find your style of band. You always want to keep the music going, so include some background music even when the meals are being served, or when the bride and groom are doing their rounds of greeting.

Roaming Musicians

Vintage style wedding band

Vintage bands cover anything from the 1920s to the 1960s and the scope of themes you can pick from in that range are some of the classiest and easiest to organise out there. You could go for Gatsby style band or even a rock n roll band.
