Because of the independence they offer to the players, sandbox games have a certain appeal so that they can grow their bases in any way they want. These games are typically designed for fans of building games, as well as for those who enjoy making aesthetically pleasing designs, those who participate in PvP, or those who enjoy the social aspects of MMOs. Often, spending hours sourcing materials and constructing our bases is the only thing we want to do!

Games such as Minecraft, Last Craft Survival, and, among others, ARK: Survival all have this feature in common.

The vast majority of these games, however, suffer from a mortal error; an attribute that is not considered a flaw for some but, for others, an unforgivable sin. As we described in our Last Day on Earth beginner's guide, most of these sandbox games lack in-game guides or tutorials to help the player out.

Some may consider these games to be incomplete or frustrating for this reason, and may quickly become bored of them.

Fortunately, we have spoken on previous occasions about how to begin and advance through the initial stages of the game, before you set up your own base camp. We developed this guide on this occasion as a way to provide some general tidbits of information about this game, as well as many useful tips that will help you survive in this post-apocalyptic wasteland during your adventure.

Easily Find Food

Having enough food to satisfy your hunger and remain healthy at all times is a vital aspect of the Last Day on Earth. Your main source of food, however, will come from either garden beds or from shooting deer to acquire meat, apart from the vicious wolves that attack you and that drop meat when you kill them.

The first method consists of planting seeds which, after a few minutes, will develop into carrots. Each carrot can be eaten raw, and 15 HP, 25 hunger points, and 5 thirst points can be refilled. If you cook them first in the campfire, however, you can produce carrot stew, which restores an extra 5 HP. The carrots do not need to be baked, but it is recommended to optimise the healing value of these ingredients when you have some free time.

Chasing down your quarry is a very dangerous endeavour while searching for deer, unless you have a variety of weapons. You may draw the attention of zombies and other enemies as you chase the animal through the woods, and become the victim yourself without realising. For this purpose, when hunting for deer, stealth is your best friend, which you can enable by pushing the Z key.

This way, you will crouch and walk unnoticed towards your prey. You can unleash a sneak attack that will kill your prey in a single hit if you manage to get into melee range. You can obtain food in this way without attracting any wandering zombies.

Keep in mind Recycle

There are certain products that can be accessed only after others are consumed. For example, empty bottles can only be obtained after a bottle of water is consumed. Similarly, it is only possible to acquire tin cans after consuming a can of beans. Although each of these things can come off as garbage or clutter, their actual usefulness goes far beyond this. In certain crafting recipes, these materials can actually be used. In particular, empty bottles are used in the rain catcher to produce water bottles after a while. In this sense, you can create an infinite supply of essential fluid by recycling your empty bottles.
