GATE 2021 - Registration, Application, and Fees Process

GATE is an all-India examination designed for the students with a science and technology background, testing candidates for their depth of understanding in various Engineering subjects. It is held on behalf of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India by the Indian Institute of Science (IISC), Bangalore, and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT). These eight institutes are the sole authority and have the responsibility to conduct the GATE exam.
GATE 2021 RegistrationGATE 2021 registration commenced on September 11 2020, and closed on October 14. Every year lakhs of candidates register for GATE Examination. Registrations for GATE begin around September and applications are invited from Bachelor’s degrees in professional courses or master’s degrees in any branch of science holders and final year students of such programs can apply for GATE Exam. At present, the exam is administered in 23 disciplines.
GATE Application Procedure 2021The application mode for GATE Exam is online, the application process includes 6 steps, and candidates are requested to follow these steps carefully and then submit the application form. These 6 steps are mentioned below:
1- Registration through GOAPS portal
2- Fill the GATE Application form
3- Document upload
4- Take a preview of the application form
5- Application Fee Payment
6- Application form Submission
Step 1: Registration through GOAPS portal
In order to fill the online application form for GATE Exam, candidates have to register themselves through GOAPS(GATE Online Application Processing System) by providing the following details:
A- Candidate’s Name
B- Valid Email ID
C- Country
D- Phone Number
E- 8-15 Characters Long- Password
F- Verify the Captcha
G- Click on ‘Submit. ‘
After filling in the correct details, an SMS will be sent to the registered mobile number a
nd Email will be sent to the registered email id.
IAll future communication will be done through registered mobile number and Email Id, and in case of foreign students only through Email Id
GOAPS Enrollment ID: After the complete and successful registration, an email will be sent containing the GOAPS Enrollment ID. To submit the GATE Application form, to download the GATE Admit card and to check GATE Scorecards GOAPS ID will be required.
Step 2: Fill the GATE Application form
To proceed with GATE Application form, enter your enrollment ID and password, read the instructions mentioned in GATE brochure and follow the process mentioned below:
Choose the GATE 2021 paper, you wish to appear for amd then select the examination centers and fill choices for the same.
The first two choices for GATE Exam centers must be of the same GATE Zone and the third one can be from any sector.
Enter your personal details after verifying your email address and mobile number like Date of Birth, Gender, Nationality, Category etc.
Step 3: Document upload
All the documents to be uploaded must be kept ready beforehand as per the dimensions and size mentioned in GATE Information brochure:
A- Passport size picture having white background: 5 kb -200 kb
B- Signature: 5 kb-200 kb
C- If applicable, Category Certificate: 10 kb -300 kb
D- If applicable, PwD Certificate: 10 kb – 300 kb
Step 4: Take a preview of Application form
Take the preview of Application form before submitting by clicking on the preview button.
And then move to the next step which is Application fee payment.
Step 5: Application Fee Payment
Application Fee differs for Indian nationals and International candidates.
Candidates can make the payment through banking facility/debit cards/ or credit cards only.
Note: GATE Application Fee is neither refundable nor transferable.
Additional online transaction charges will be applicable as per the banking norms.
SC/ ST/ PwD category candidates have to provide valid documentary evidence for concession in fees.

Step 6: Application form Submission
Last step is submitting the application form but before that candidate has to read and accept the declaration statement to make the successful submission.
By declaring you have to confirm the application fee is filled by you and no false information has been given.
After declaration, finally submit the application form.
The candidate must verify that he/she has filled in and uploaded the following information, wherever applicable:
1- Personal details: Name, Date of Birth, Mobile Number, Parent’s/guardian's name, Parent’s/guardian's mobile number, etc.
2- Communication Address including PIN code.
3- Eligibility criteria details like: college address, PIN code of college.
4- Documents like Degree certificate, Certificate from the Head of the Department/Institute, etc.).
5- In case a concession in application fee is to be claimed, then candidates must keep their category certificate (SC/ST/PWD) ready.
6- Passport Size Picture in white background.
7- Scanned Signature as per the dimensions and size mentioned above.
8- Valid ID Proof to be carried to the examination centre.
