Rubber compounding is very important to human beings. The very concept of rubber compounding is not limited to one single ingredient; instead, each and every constitution is different from one another. They are quite different depending upon the additives used for the general processing agent or in general it is known as GPA. Depending upon the vendor requirement various components, in fact, thousands of the different compounds can be produced. Therefore, it is important to know what type of chemical composition is required to fulfil vendor requirement.

Formation of rubber compounds: The composition of the chemical additive is measured in terms of part per hundred. All the ingredients used are measured in terms of parts per hundred. Usually, the combination will include the majority of all these things; polymer, fillers, antioxidants, oil, cures, in different quantities based on the consistent and utility. Each of these ingredients has their own role to fulfil in the main materials produced due to different permutations and combinations.

Functional properties of all these chemicals: First of all, polymers come in the list. All the physical, chemical and molding properties of the rubber are based on this particular ingredient. Different polymers are measured based on its chemical operation and also on the consistency of viscosity. This is measured in terms of Mooney viscosity. Most of these polymers are sold by adding the same in different viscosity level.

Next comes fillers. This is one of the important combinations of the rubber formation. Depending upon the utility of the rubber product, physical properties, required compression set, and above all to get the required color combination fillers are used in almost all rubber compounds. Some of the products are available only in black and black color is obtained by using carbon black. Black is a preferred color in most of the rubber products used in most of the industries where heat sustainable products are required.

When mild colors are required or white color is required fillers used will be changed to that of the white clay or different minerals. They are used where the bonding effects of rubber required are less compared to that of one available in black color rubber.

The antioxidants are used to protect the product while being prepared from breaking up due to the production free radicals.

The antiozonants are used as the name indicates to inhibit the ozone production. Usually they are used in the form of wax.

This can be seen in most of the rubber molded products, that will have a light sheen of waxing on the surface of the products.

Depending upon the combination of Rubber compounds, various oils are used to reduce the viscosity level in the product. They also assist to lower the hardness of the rubber.

The Cures are used to hold the distributed hydrocarbon chains that can scatter the bondage of the rubber. These products which are used to hold the disturbing and scattered hydrocarbon in its places are later known as Vulcanizers. Usually, Sulphur is used as a vulcanizing chemical to form carbon-sulphur-carbon bond.
