MacBook Air brings along amazing features, including a Retina display, dual Thunderbolt 3 ports, and SSD storage. Not only this, but it also offers a battery life of eighteen hours; however, it depends upon your usage.

Though eighteen hours is an estimate given by the company if you’re using the system with the brightness turned down and light usage.

Apart from usage, if you’re facing battery issues, like a quick drain, there’s something wrong with your MacBook Air Battery. Don’t worry though! There are a few tips you can try to fix the issue. So, read along to learn more about the same!

Fixing MacBook Air Battery Problems

Follow the tips mentioned below to fix the battery issues you’re facing on your MacBook Air:

Complete the Setup Process

If you’ve purchased a new Mac or are reinstalling your old one, it is essential to let your Mac complete the setup process after everything is configured. Things like Spotlight indexing leads to significant drainage of the battery than normal. Therefore, it’ll be best to leave your Mac after plugging in power during the setup process.

Once your MacBook completes the process, unplug the power, and start using your Mac like any other regular days. Thus, the battery issue is likely to be fixed and it’ll perform fine.

Let Your Mac Rest

Whenever you buy a new device or product, it is likely to be used more. The first few days or weeks will see higher usage, and not only this but more Wi-Fi will be used, the display will be turned on for a long time, etc.

Undoubtedly, your Mac will drain the battery quicker than on normal days when it’s not used for longer durations. In such a situation, all you need to do is let your Mac rest for a while. Whenever it’s not in use, put it to sleep. Therefore, you can continue using the same at the point you left.

On the other hand, if you’re not using your Mac a lot and its battery is still draining, you’ll have to look for alternative methods.

Run Down the Battery

One of the easiest methods to fix the battery problems on your MacBook is to run down its battery. All you need to do is use your Mac until its battery is low and it shuts down. Now, plug in the power and leave your Mac until it’s fully charged.

Once the MacBook is charged, unplug the same and start using it as you do.

Turn Off and Then Turn On

Restarting your system kills all the issues that might be occurring on your Mac, including battery problems, apps not working, etc. Therefore, here are the steps to restart your MacBook:

  1. Locate the Apple icon at the top-left corner of the screen and click on the same.
  2. A drop-down menu will open. Select the ‘Restart’ option.
  3. Click on the ‘Restart’ button on the pop-up menu to confirm.

Your MacBook will start rebooting.

Update All the Apps

If you think that your Mac is facing any kind of operating system or third-party software issues, make sure that your system has updated apps. Therefore, the steps to check and update are:

  1. Go to the Mac Store.
  2. Select the ‘Updates’ option from the left menu.
  3. A new ‘Updates’ window will open.
  4. Click on the ‘Update’ button next to the app name that you want to update. In case you want to update all the apps, hit the ‘Update All’ button in the top-right corner of the window.
  5. Type your Apple ID password in the given space when prompted.

For all the other non-Mac App Store apps, check for the updates by navigating to the menu bar.

Run Local Apps

It is advised to run local applications whenever possible. For instance, using Safari, Apple’s in-built browser is better to use than using Chrome. Chrome is undoubtedly one of the most popular browsers, but it is also RAM-hungry.

Increase Battery Life in Emergency

If there’s still some battery left on your Mac; however, there’s no source of recharging the same for the next few hours, there are a few tricks you can use to stretch the battery life. Some of them are mentioned below:

  • Decrease the brightness of the screen.
  • For listening to music or any audio, use headphones in place of speakers.
  • If you’re not working online, turn off the Wi-Fi.
  • Close all the background apps if not in use.

Sometimes, none of the above-mentioned tips might work for you. Therefore, it indicates that your MacBook is going through something major. In such a situation, the best step is to contact Apple for professional help.
