How Can I Cure Omega 3 Deficiency Without Using Supplementation
Posted: Jan 22, 2021
Omega 3 Deficiency is a very common thing among people and a cause of many health problems. The body does not make them and there are hardly many sources that can help meet the omega 3 requirements of your body. With all that, taking omega 3 supplements pretty much seems the only way to go for preventing and curing omega 3 deficiency.
However, many people don't favor the supplements and are on a lookout for other ways that could come as more natural alternative. However, is there any way you can cure omega 3 deficiency without using supplementation?
The simple answer to this question is, of course there is! All you need is to make some changes to your diet. Moreover, these changes shall not be even very vast. It's just about replacing the foods you are already eating with their healthier variants.
However, before we can move on to the foods that can help you cure omega 3 deficiency and keep the level of omega fatty acids in balance, let's look at what causes the omega 3 deficiency in the first place.
Causes of Omega 3 Deficiency
A major cause for omega 3 deficiency is that the body does not make them and it's only through your diet or supplementation that you can feed your body with this essential nutrient. However, there are not many foods that have this nutrient in abundance as well. Another problem is the EFA profiles of the foods that do have omega fatty acids. Those EFA profiles are very high with more content of omega 6 fatty acids and much lesser content of omega 3 fatty acids. Due to this, the omega 3 deficiency is much common.
How to Cure Omega 3 Deficiency Through Your Diet?
As mentioned earlier, all you have to do is switch to better and healthier variants of the foods you are already eating to fulfil your body's omega 3 requirements. Here are some foods that you can have.
1. Grass Fed Beef
Everyone is fond of steaks and loves to have them. But generally, you have steaks prepared with the regular, conventional feedlot beef. You can switch to grass fed beef steaks instead. Grass Fed Beef has a much higher content of omega 3 fatty acids in it along with a very healthy EFA profile. In fact, research shows that grass fed beef is up to 5times richer in omega 3 fatty acids. So, having it can absolutely help you cure your omega 3 deficiency. Moreover, it tastes better too with a natural and earthy flavor.
2. Omega 3 Chickens
Who does not love chicken meals? Well, we all do! But instead of having chicken meals prepared with the feedlot chickens, you can have them prepared with the healthier and tastier omega 3 chickens. These chickens are given a special feed that is enriched with omega 3 and this feed even makes up for a healthy omega 6 to omega 3 fatty acids ratio of 2:1. With that, they have much higher content of omega 3 fatty acids too. And just like grass fed beef, it tastes much better with an earthy flavor.
So, with omega 3 chickens and grass fed beef included in your diet, you can easily curb your omega 3 deficiency and make sure that you don't have to rely on supplements to meet your requirements for this essential healthy fat.
