Many brides report that planning their weddings is one of the most stressful jobs they have ever done. There are simply so many decisions to make that it can see overwhelming at times. Choosing invitations, the venue for the reception, the flower arrangements and the buffet foods can take up a lot of a bride's time. However, there is one decision that demands more time and attention than any other decision. A bride has to carefully choose her wedding gown from among the many designer wedding dresses that are available.

The Feeling

All brides want to feel a certain way when they walk down the aisle to meet their husbands and say their marital vows. They want to feel beautiful, special and confident as they parade down the aisle in front of their family members and friends. Some brides have to search through a lot of dresses to find the one that makes them feel this way. The trick is to keep trying on dresses until the feeling happens. A bride will know when the right dress is found.

Look at Pictures

One idea is for brides to spend some time looking through bridal magazines or websites to see pictures of all of the different styles of wedding gowns. The bride can then print several pictures of dresses she likes. This will help the salesperson at the dress shop help the bride find the right types of dresses. For example, one bride might only want to look at dresses with long trains while another bride is focused on finding a dress that cinches in her waist and puffs out at the bottom. Some brides want to feel sexy while others opt for a more traditional looking gown. Some brides like lots of little decorative beads and accents while other brides will only wear simple gowns.

Try It On

There is no substitute for trying on a designer wedding dress. Many brides find that although they like certain styles in pictures, those styles don't work for their body types. For example, a specific dress might accentuate a bride's wide hips, or a dress might make a bride's shoulders look too big. The trick is to find a designer wedding gown that hides the problem areas of the body but accentuates the best features. A salesperson at the bridal dress shop will have experience in this field. Ask the salesperson to make recommendations based on her years of experience. Many brides are surprised to find that the salespeople know how to choose dresses.

Designer wedding dresses are gorgeous, and they can make brides feel special on their wedding days. Just remember to stay within the budget when choosing a dress.
