Folk music has been around a long time and some of the earliest folk musicians include Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger who are considered significant contributors to the genre. With so many great artists like Bob Dylan in the 60’s, Cat Stevens, Neil Young, and Joni Mitchell in the 70s folk style music has become extremely popular. Moving on we now have the modern Indie folk-rock bands thanks mainly to the success of the popular band which is Mumford & Sons. They have inspired a whole new breed of folk-rock bands; the Indie folk-rock style band has now become very popular when looking to hire a band for a wedding or event in the UK.
Folk-Rock Wedding Bands
With talented and professional musicians playing instruments such as the double bass, acoustic guitars, banjo, and drums, these bands are now at the top of the list for those outdoor festival-themed weddings. These folk wedding bands also have great flexibility with the choice of changing the acoustic instruments for electric guitars and bass for a more indie rock type the finale to finish the evening’s entertainment. If it is not in their collection of songs they will learn your special song for your very first dance and put their own twist on it creating a very special moment in time.
If you are looking for music for your drinks reception then this will be no problem as they can play acoustically and unamplified leaving the drums behind and swapping them with a Cajon allowing for a more relaxed and chilled out a set of music.
A memorable celebration
Including a folk-rock band at your wedding celebration will lift the whole occasion to a new level! They will make sure that all guests will have an amazing time and one they will talk about for a long time.
Hire a folk band for a corporate event
These Mumford folk-rock bands are not just suitable for a wedding but would be an exceptional option for a corporate event due to their versatility. If your event is to be held outside they can perform as a roaming band, many of them will not just take to the stage singing those pop and rock songs, no, they will roam around and will play unplugged and will mix and mingle amongst your clients, playing their songs motivating everybody to participate in the fun and most importantly keeping everyone entertained.
How long will they perform for?
A band will normally play live for around 2 hours in total, consisting of 2 x 60-minute sets with a short break which can be split into acoustic and full electric sets. If you wanted to spread the music out for longer, then 3 x 40 minutes would be another option. Also, a DJ service is supplied in between sets if needed to keep the music going especially at a wedding. There would be a set-up time of around 60-90 minutes which would include a soundcheck. They would arrive in plenty of time so they would not interfere with the proceedings.
Equipment & Lighting
All bands will be totally self-contained supplying a PA system and if the venue has no lighting they will supply some for the stage.
So If you are looking to hire a band for a wedding or a corporate and business event or even a party then a modern-day folk band will be an excellent option, not only sounding amazing and looking sharp, but able to cover all features of your wedding or event.
