7 Tips to Build an Effective Small Business Website
Posted: Jan 29, 2021
Looking to build an impactful website for your small business to improve engagement? Here are a few tips that will help you build an effective website.
1. Write Impactful Content:
When users land on the landing page, they immediately read the first few lines on the page to decide if they wish to stay back or leave the page. It is important to write impactful content, especially above the fold, to grab users' interest. This is the best strategy to reduce the bounce rate. In fact, every page on the site should have attention-grabbing content on top so that users get intrigued to read further.
2. Use Engaging images:
It has been noted that users are more interested in going through visual content, so adding images to the site is a great way to make it look more engaging. But make sure not to use heavy image files, or else the page loading speed will decrease. Use jpg for images all over the page as the file sizes are small for this format. Convert jpg to png so that you can use high-quality png images for banners.
3. Implement Mobile-First Strategy:
Statistics have revealed that around 65% of users browsed the internet through their mobile phones. This only means you have to design your site in such a way that you prioritize mobile users. Designing a small-screen website is much different from a desktop website, where you can place multiple contents side-by-side. Remember, the same site may appear cluttered on your phone screen. Hence implement a mobile-first approach
4. Use Clear Navigations:
The next important thing any website should clearly design is the navigation. The site's flow should be such that the navigation takes users naturally to the next page they would like to visit. Keep it simple and easy to understand so that they do not get lost in the process.
5. Place Search on Top:
While planning clear navigation is essential, users find it easy to search for content directly on the site. Place the search option on page top, even on mobile view, for ease of access.
6. Keep It Minimalistic:
A few years back, web designs used to be filled with a lot of animated and colorful content to make them look complex and interesting. With years, web design trends have changed, and now a minimalistic approach is the best way to go about it. Too many distracting elements will take away the focus of users from the main call-to-action element. Having a minimalistic site makes sure that they do not miss out on the CTA element.
7. Prioritize the Need for Speed:
When you use the internet, if a site takes more than the required time to load, do you wait for it or move on? Most of us move on, of course, as multiple other sites can offer me the same information, so why waste time on a site that is not well optimized? Most users think alike, so keep the page light so that users do not lose interest and leave the site even without checking out the landing page.
We have listed above the current trends of web designing. Using them right will ensure an improvement in customer engagement on your website.
