The Vintage Car Features We Miss in Cars Today

Time changes and with it changes everything. Same is true for the cars we drive today. They are nothing like what they once used to be. Newer cars have so many advanced features that many of the old vintage features are now removed. Some of them are removed for good. Others, we wish they were brought back. Today we will revisit the past and look into those features that we wish to have again. Keep on reading to find out whether or not you would want these back in your cars.

Auto Seat Belts

Seat belts are a lifesaver. However, a lot of experiments were done with the seat belts. Back in the 90s, many cars came with the auto seat belt. When you opened the door, the seat belts automatically slid to the front to give you enough space to sit down. Upon closing the door, the seat belt will come to its original place locking you in the seat.

Car Phones

Cell phones were a luxury twenty years back. They were not as readily accessible to everyone. So cars came with phones. They don’t make much sense these days as most of the people have their phones with them. However, it may make sense to you if you are a person who forgets things when in a rush.

Extra Fuel Tanks

Back then people didn’t need to fill their tanks a lot as some cars came with an extra fuel tank. Typically, big vehicles like trucks had this option. It would be a nice feature to have in a Zonda.

Rain Gutters

This is a pretty neat feature that we all wish to have. London is a wet city. Back then cars used to have these rain gutters that prevented any water from getting inside and landing on to you. They were located on the windows and were also helpful in reducing the wind noise. But car manufacturers stopped adding these to prevent rust issues.

CD Players

When there were no USBs, there were good old CD players. Now we have connectivity options that will take almost any kind of input and output to almost any kind of device. Before, a collection of CDs was put to good use. But they took it away. Thank God the radio is still there. You can install a CD player in your car. But you will not get the same high-quality sound. However, if you want to have the vintage experience, then give it a go

Keys!

Surprised? Maybe you just didn’t notice but you don’t use keys in your cars now do you? Although there are some cars that still require it for ignition, most either do not have it or have it hidden inside a compartment in your door handle. Back then there were keys that looked like – well – keys. They were simple keys. They went inside, you turned them and there goes the engine. It was a nice feeling. Now you just start the car with a push of a button.

Final Word

So did you find out if you are in favor of these features or against them? Maybe you would like all of them back if you are someone who stays true to the tradition. I do.
