INI – CET

INI – CET or Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test, is an examination conducted by AIIMS, New Delhi which is the sole authority for conducting the exam, declaring the results, and allocating seats. This exam has replaced the postgraduate entrance tests of AIIMS PG, JIPMER PG, PGIMER, and NIMHANS Entrance Test. It is conducted twice in a year mostly in the month of January and July. INI-CET exam helps the candidates to get admission for MD (Doctor of Medicine), MS (Masters of Surgery), DM (Doctorate of Medicine), MDS (Masters of Dental Surgery), and MCH (Masters of Chirurgiae) courses in 10 different medical colleges.

Eligibility Criteria
  • A candidate must have acquired a graduation in MBBS or BDS or equivalent courses from a recognized institution in India or outside India.
  • Candidates who belong to the general, OBC or general PWD group must have scored 55% in the aggregate marks.
  • Candidates who belong to the SC or ST or SC-PWD or ST-PWD categories, must have scored 50% marks.
  • Candidates should possess at least one-year internship before applying for INI CET.
  • There is no age limit
  • Candidates can give a number of attempts
  • Candidate who wishes to take the INI-CET can be an Indian, Non-Indian, or an OCI/NRI

  • Exam duration: 3 hours (180 minutes)

INI – CET 2021 Syllabus

The INI CET syllabus is divided into three subjects:

  1. Pre-Clinical Phase
  2. Para-Clinical Phase and
  3. Clinical Phase.

These subjects are further divided into the following subtopics.

Syllabus for Pre-Clinical Phase

It is further divided into three major topics: Anatomy, Biochemistry and Physiology.

  1. Anatomy – Microanatomy, Neuroanatomy, Gross Anatomy, Embryology & Genetics.
  2. Biochemistry – Biological Cell, Biomolecules Enzymes, Hormones and PH,

Molecular Biology, Metabolic Pathways, Immunology, Cancer and Cancer Makers, Environmental Biochemistry, Physiological Buffer Systems, Food Assimilation and Nutrition.

  • Physiology – Respiratory System, Gastrointestinal System, Cardiovascular System, Sensory System, the Visceral and Motivational System, Motor System, Blood, General Physiology, Neurophysiology, Nerve-Muscle, Reproduction, Kidney, Nutrition, Special Senses, Sleep and Higher Nervous Functions, EEG, Yoga.

Topics: Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine and Community Medicine

Syllabus for Clinical Phase

Topics: Medicine & Allied Subjects (Dermatology and Psychiatry), Surgery & Allied Subjects (Anaesthesiology, Ophthalmology, E.N.T, Orthopaedics), Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Obstetrics, Community Medicine, Clinical Postings

Tips to prepare for INI – CET
  • You need to maintain 100% accuracy with increase in speed as this is a highly competitive exam.
  • You should focus on both the facts and concepts by framing a strategic study planner to improve yourself.
  • You should prioritize the topics by just doing the two major things. Try solving previous years’ papers and do multiple revisions to secure a good rank.
Exam Day Guidelines
  • It is compulsory for all test-takers to carry a valid photo ID proof and wear a mask that fully covers the nose and the mouth.
  • Electronic devices like mobile phones, calculators, smartwatches, etc. are not allowed.
  • Entering the exam center will be staggered to prevent overcrowding
  • The INI CET exam center does not have a provision to keep bags or other valuables
  • Candidates are allowed to carry a transparent water bottle and a 50 ml bottle of hand sanitizer to the exam center
  • Aspirants must report to the examination center at the ‘reporting time’ mentioned on their admit cards
