Project management program is a universal certification which is accredited by the PMI. A PMP certification helps a person scale the ladder of success in a more efficient manner. With the demand for project management rising, such a certification becomes all the more important, as it gives one practical exposure to the field of project management, and it is valid throughout the world across all the sectors. A PMP certification on your side helps you stand apart from other employees, as you possess a set of skills and discipline that is very vital in the field of project management.

With so many benefits of the PMI certification, one may think that it would be very expensive to enroll yourself into the PMI Course. But PMI certification is a very affordable course, and you only pay the price once for a lifetime of benefits. The current charges for PMI certification stand at $588 for a computerized test at an authorized center for a non-PMI member, and the charges are $322 for an already enrolled PMI member. A candidate can also opt for a paper-based examination, the charges of which are $400 and $250 respectively.

The current membership for PMI stands at $129 a year, with $10 charges for registering for the exam, so if you become a PMI member first, and then apply for the exam, you can save $11 while registering for the exam itself. However, one must note that there are some conditions that need to be fulfilled for taking up the paper-based examination. You can only opt for a paper-based examination if you live at least 300 km away from the authorized center, or if you are working in an organization, and your employer has sanctioned an examination for employees within the company.

Before you take up the PMP exam, you need to submit an application for review from PMI's side. And a candidate is eligible for writing the exam for 1 year from the date that the application review has been done. So, even if you have filled out the application and have selected a date for your exam, but you can't take the exam on that day, PMI has a refund policy for such cases. All you need to do is send out a request to PMI with more than 30 days remaining for your exam eligibility to end.

When you do this, PMI will deduct a processing charge of $100 from your application's fee, and will refund the balance amount to you. Also, there are some audit requirements from the PMI's side, and if a candidate is unable to fulfill them, then also PMI will deduct a charge of $100 as processing charge, and will refund the balance to you. It is in a candidate's best interests to clear the exam in the first attempt itself, as the re-examination fee for the PMP certification stands at $275 for PMI members, and $375 for non-PMI members in a computer-based examination.

After learning about the exam fee and various other fees related to the PMP certification, one can see that it is an investment that will stick with you all your life. When you clear the PMP examination and all the other processes related to getting a PMP certification, then you have to pay a meagre annual fee to renew the membership and avail all the benefits of being a certified PMP professional. With the demand for certified professionals who can handle projects in a more efficient manner on a rise, an investment in taking up PMP certification will definitely pay off well in the future!

Join the PMI and save yourself $11 in PMP test registration. Online and Offline test facility available! Submit your application today and give the exam within a year!
