So, even if you have filled out the application and have selected a date for your exam, but you can't take the exam on that day, PMI has a refund policy for such cases. All you need to do is send out a request to PMI with more than 30 days remaining for your exam eligibility to end.

When you do this, PMI will deduct a processing charge of $100 from your application's fee, and will refund the balance amount to you. Also, there are some audit requirements from the PMI's side, and if a candidate is unable to fulfill them, then also PMI will deduct a charge of $100 as processing charge, and will refund the balance to you. It is in a candidate's best interests to clear the exam in the first attempt itself, as the re-examination fee for the PMP certification stands at $275 for PMI members, and $375 for non-PMI members in a computer-based examination.
