First of all let’s understand who can opt for this course and what is the admission procedure?
A candidate who has passed 10+2 with subjects like: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry is eligible to sit for engineering entrance exams. The admission to the engineering courses in India is done on the basis of National, State & University level examination. JEE Main and Advanced are the National level examinations conducted for providing admission to courses like B.Tech and B.Arch. The exam is conducted by National Testing Agency and is based on objective type pattern.
JEE Main has two papers – 1 and 2. Paper 1 is conducted for taking admission in B.E./B.Tech courses and is conducted through online mode. However, paper 2 is conducted to take admission in B.Arch and B.Planning courses and is conducted through offline mode. There is a new announcement that paper 3 will be introduced for B. Planning courses separately. JEE Main 2020 January session will be held from January 6 to 11. It will be conducted across 233 cities in India and 9 in abroad. The admit card will be received on December 6 in online mode. The result will be declared on 31st January. Those who have missed January attempt, can apply for JEE Main in April. Registration for April attempt will begin from February 7, 2020.
Those who have cleared JEE Main will sit for JEE Advanced to get through the admission in IIT. Upcoming JEE Advanced will be held on May 17, 2020. The exam will be conducted in two parts – One will start from 9 AM to 12 Noon and second paper will be conducted from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Other State level examinations are: AP EAMCET (Andhra Pradesh State), BCECE (Bihar State) and JKCET (Jammu & Kashmir State) etc. In India, there are various universities that conduct their own admission test to the UG engineering programme. Though, admission to the IITs is based on JEE Advanced after clearing JEE Main, but for M.Tech programme, students need to clear GATE exam.
