The third match of the five T20 matches series between India and England was won by the visitors by 8 wickets. With this victory, England has taken a 2–1 lead in the series. Jose Butler was the hero of this win as he scored an unbeaten 83 runs.England won the toss and decided to bowl first. India gave them a target of 157 runs. Jose Butler's half-century and Johnny Bairstow's unbeaten 40 helped the English team achieve the target in 18.2 overs as they scored 158 runs for 2 wickets.Butler of his 83 runs hit 5 fours and 4 sixes in just 52 balls. This is now the best innings of his career. Earlier, he scored an unbeaten 81 against Australia at Southampton in September 2020. Asides from this his innings at Ahmedabad is the best innings of an English batsman against India. He left his captain Eoin Morgan behind who had scored 71 against India at Edgbaston in 2014.Earlier, India scored 156 runs for 6 wickets. Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 77 runs. Apart from him, Rishabh Pant scored 25, Hardik Pandya 17 and Rohit Sharma scored 15 runs. Kohli scored the 27th half-century of his career. He hit 8 fours and 4 sixes in his innings. KL Rahul had yet another disappointing innings while Shreyas Iyer scored 9 and Ishan scored 4 runs. For England, Mark Wood took 3 and Chris Jordan took 2 wickets. virat kohli was the top-scorer for India with his unbeaten 46-ball 77 after India were invited to take first strike. For England, Mark Wood (3/31) took three wickets to emerge as the most successful bowler, while Chris Jordon (1/35) claimed one. Earlier, England skipper Eoin Morgan won the toss and elected to field against India. England brought back pacer Mark Wood in place of medium pacer Tom Curran. Former England captain Michael Vaughan in a jovial manner tweeted that India had heeded his suggestion of playing Mumbai Indians players in the XI. Earlier during the 1st T20I Vaughan had tweeted that an IPL team is better than the national side.
