There are several difficulties that we face in our lives. At a young age, these problems can be easily managed. But as we grow older, our body starts becoming less capable to work. This is the time when we require some external help.

Seeing this problem, Singapore has offered a complete wellness and healthcare plan for all citizens. Eldershield is one such program that provides peace of mind to all elderly people. It was formed in 2002. This plan not only provides financial aid to these people but also helps in the treatment of medical conditions.

Also, the plan is specifically designed for disabled elderly people. These are the aged people who need the right help. Eldershield covers the Interim Disability Assistance Programme. Any people belonging to this group can take advantage of all the features of this plan.

However, the entire system does require an Eldershield assessor to verify every detail. The Ministry of Health has laid out certain rules and regulations for Eldershield assessment. Every elderly person can only apply for this program by visiting an Eldershield assessor. All the details about this are mentioned on the Ministry of Health Singapore website.

In this article you will find all the necessary information about Eldershield. This will help in your Eldershield assessment.

Eligibility Criteria Eldershield IDAPE

This sub-section of the Eldershield program is meant for highly-disabled elderly people. The people who cannot do any work under any circumstance are the main candidates for this procedure. Though, the person should satisfy the following eligibility conditions:

  • The individual is having an acute disability and is not able to perform at least three daily activities. The activities are also mentioned in this assessment. They are washing, Feeding, Dressing, Toileting, Mobility, and Transferring.
  • Should be born before 30 September 1932 or during the span of 1 October 1932 and 30 September 1962.
  • Having any previous history of disabilities before 30 September 2002.
  • The per capita income of the entire house is less than or equal to $2800.
  • The elderly has zero household income and the annual value of the house does not exceed $13000.
Benefits of Eldershield IDAPE

The benefits of this program depend on the Eldershield assessment. By checking your health and financial conditions, the government determines the monthly amount. This money is paid to you for 6 years. Apart from that, IDAPE has divided the plan into three categories. These benefits apply to every applicant. Additionally, the cash is given only after calculating the monthly per capita household income.

For $0 to $2000 income holders, a payout of $250 is given. Whereas, a person having an income of $2001 to $2800 receives $150. Lastly, if the individual doesn’t have any household income and the annual residential value is not more than $13000, then a payout of $250 is given.

How to apply for the assessment?

For just the Eldershield program, an applicant can fill the form provided on the MOH website. However, for IDAPE, you need to clear two procedures. The first one is the Severe Disability Assessment and the second one, is the IDAPE application.

For the disability assessment, you can contact a MOH-certified center. Ministry of Health Singapore also provides a list of all the accredited assessors. The assessor will take a minimal fee for examining a severely disabled person. The doctor performs an IDAPE assessment and creates a report. After passing this test, the person can proceed with the IDAPE application.

IDAPE application is a simple process. Any person just has to visit the MOH website and input all the necessary details. You can also modify existing schemes on this platform.
