2. DTCP DTCP stands for Directorate of Town and Country Planning. This department looks after planning and development in urban and rural areas of the country and each state has a DTCP for the state. This development takes place through Master Plans prepared by the method of Master Plans and Indicative Land use Plans. DTCP also prepares Mandal Headquarters Development Plans. The planned development is carried out through approval of layouts and by regulating building rules and zoning regulations and also the approval of industrial institutions. DTCP has two distinct functions – one under the urban front and the other on the rural front.

• DTCP assists the government in all Town and Country Planning matters as well as coordinating with various departments.

• The department monitors various schemes that involve area planning and development, environmental improvement schemes.
