The thought of having an upcoming party can stress you out. You will have to make a lot of preparations ahead. In reality, the arrangements start at least a week ago if you are hosting a grand party. One thing that can help you and lessen the anxiety is to prepare a few meals ahead. Almost all of us know how to store meals. But when it comes to desserts, most of us get confused. If you are making a cake as a dessert, then we have good news for you. You can prep the cake even a week ahead and store it. Some people prefer to buy ready-made cakes place inside the cake display cabinet. But, if you want to know how to keep your cake fresh for either a few hours or a few days, then you are at the right place. But one thing you need to make sure of is that this guide is for storing a cake even before frosting it. Below we will be sharing a guide to keep the cake fresh.

1-Refrigerating

If you want to keep the cake fresh for just a few hours or overnight, then the best appliance for this task is a refrigerator. Once the cake is ready, it is the right time to let the process begin. Remember that frosting the cake before you store it can increase your workload. Hence, what you should do is preserve it and then frost it just before serving. If your cake is hot, then let it sit at room temperature for 1 hour. Once your cake attains room temperature, take each layer of cake and wrap it in a plastic sheet. Make sure you cover each layer tightly. This method is for overnight refrigeration. If you want to store the cake for a few hours only, then the procedure is easy as a child’s play. First, let the cake sit at room temperature for some time. Now take an airtight container. Place the layers of cake in the container. Make sure you store each layer in a different container. Close the lid of the container. Make sure there is no possibility of entrance of air in the container. Now place the cake in the refrigerator.

2-Freezing

The freezing technique is beneficial when you want to store the cake for a few days or weeks. First of all, bake the cake. Now repeat the same process as refrigeration. Once your cake is at room temperature 20°–22 °C, wrap it in the plastic paper properly. Now take aluminum foil and cover each layer again with it. Label each layer with its expiry date and cake type. Do not freeze cakes for longer than three months. Now place the cake in silicon-reusable bags or freezer-safe containers. Make sure that the container you are using is airtight.

3-Thawing

Thawing frozen cake is not difficult. One day before decorating and frosting, place the frozen cakes in the refrigerator overnight. The next day, take out the cake and let it sit outside for 8 hours. Now decorate it with your favorite frosting and serve it.
