While an excellent ice cream maker is not always the most versatile gadget, it is unquestionably one of the most enjoyable. The system plays a significant role in a machine that can deliver you reliably excellent results at the drop of a hat if the idea of trotting the own customized ice cream gives you happiness it's lightweight and fragile or filled with more combine than a quart of Ben & Jerry's, so buy a commercial soft serve ice cream machine and enjoy your favorite flavor ice cream.

Whynter ICM-201SB

In our opinion, the Whynter ICM-201SB produced some of the softest ice creams. We've been recommending Whynter products since 2014, but this one beat out its rival, the Whynter ICM-15LS. The big, 2.1-quart bowl on the ICM-201SB is simple to scrape smooth with a spoon and offers plenty of space for mix-ins. The ICM-201SB also has a shorter lifespan than the rest of the ice cream makers we checked, meaning it takes up less storage space. This design has a blending mode and also a continuing feature in comparison to a countdown.

This ice cream maker is expensive, as are most compressor-cooled ones. However, it allows healthier ice cream and provides more stable performance than better alternatives that use salt and ice or need the container to be pre-frozen.

Whynter ICM-15LS

The Whynter ICM-15LS was almost as strong as the ICM-201SB in terms of efficiency. It has a smaller bowl and a size of around two cups less than most ice cream makers, but it also suits most ice cream formulas. The ICM-15LS is easy to use, with just a timer and a start/stop command. It also produced some of the softest ice creams in check test results quite as perfect as the ICM-201SB, but similar. While the costs of each of our Whynter picks change rapidly, this one is usually the less expensive of the two. So, if you're trying to save a little money, or if the ICM-15LS is slightly less costly than the ICM-201SB, we think it's an excellent alternative.

Lello Musso Lussino 4080

The Lello Musso Lussino 4080 is the pinnacle of home ice cream producers. This big, streamlined system cranked creamy and fluffy quantities of ice cream in much less than 30 minutes in test trials, the quickest of any design we tested. And the tasters agreed that the ice cream was the cleanest and most flavorful. However, the Lello 4080's size and exorbitant cost make it too expensive for easy dessert-making. The whole system could be right for you if you intend on creating a quarter or more of ice cream per week.

KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker KICA0WH

If you have a KitchenAid stand mixer, the KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker KICA0WH extension is a nice addition. Since this bowl needs pre-freezing, it necessitates more preparation with our other selections and prohibits you from churning several quantities in a line. Since the lower level on the KitchenAid stand mixer remains quicker than the pace at which ice cream makers rotate, these ice cream makers produced the best tasting ice cream of all the devices we tested.
