Final Project Assignment

Every business requires competent management at all time for its growth and future prosperity. An enterprise owner or management must establish good business goals and techniques to be used in achieving better outcomes. Those who plan and implement strategies efficiently tend to succeed most of the time. The current endeavor is to determine how as a BizCafe owner, I can improve the business through careful planning, advertisement, and proper staffing.

The current strategy is to develop a business, which is admired by working class individuals due to its efficiency in delivering services in the right environment. To achieve this plan, I will acquire and maintain the best skills in the market because in the coffee sector, the employees relationship with customers and ability to work matters most. My specific objectives for the caf? include receiving the local best coffee shop award. It is a prestigious prize, which is granted to the caf? that has the best customer satisfaction level and highly rated ambiance. To achieve this, I will ensure maintaining the best customer service and the highest level of cleanness at all times. The second objective is to increase daily sales from the current 500 cups up to 810 in the next one or two years. Such target will be achieved through intensive and resourceful product promotion.

The logo of the caf? will appear in the storefront, well-designed in windows, as well as in the form of a storefront sign. It will be composed of the companys creative name and a drawing indicating a cup of hot coffee. The color of the logo will be dark-brown and green as an indication of strong drink, which is refreshing respectively. Additionally, the logo will be included in all cups as a form of publicizing the brand.

Cornering advertisement, I will use the local business magazine, which attracts a lot of working-class people. As pronounced earlier, the caf? targets office workers; therefore, an advert in the local magazine will reach out to most potential customers. I will also ensure that the enterprise produces monthly fliers, which will be distributed to nearby offices. Finally, there will be promotional offers for individuals who come as a group or those who purchase more than once on a single day.

For efficient operation, I intend to have 60 hours of labor each day excluding my input. With only 12 hours of service a day, it means that five employees will be needed at all time. If it is possible to get full-time workers, then it will be the best thing, but morning and afternoon shifts are desirable. Among these five employees, two will operate as baristas at any given time. The rest will work preparing coffee, serving, and cleaning among other jobs that arise within the caf?. The fifth person can be eliminated, but I intend to retain him/her because pick hours are always very demanding, and in case of the lack of enough staff, customers will not be affected. As a manager, I will be responsible for handling cash, maintaining inventory, supervision, general administration, and making purchases. Each employee will receive $9 per hour, which will add to a total of $16,200 per month or 67 cents per cup of coffee.

The caf? is operating and expected to continue to run with a reasonable profit margin of 10.8 percent. Each cup of coffee costs $3.12, including taxes, and is sold at $3.5 meaning that there are 38 cents of net profit per cup. By selling an average of 810 cups a day, a monthly income statement will contain the direct cost of making coffee, which includes coffee beans, cup/lid, and sugar at $25,272, and the rent of $2430. Other items will comprise the tax of 8.5% on sales, general and administration cost of $22,113, advertisement expenses of $2,400, and labor cost of $16,200. Concerning a balance sheet, the most important asset will be goodwill created through customer loyalty and brand acknowledgment. Others will include furniture and fittings, equipment like coffee makers, and inventory. Liability will consist of a sum payable to suppliers and short-term loans. Finally, the capital will cover the initial investment, as well as money retained in the business.

The main factors, which determine the prosperity of this coffee shop, are customers satisfaction. Several issues are involved in this area, including the total waiting time, quality of coffee, conduct of employees, and ambiance. For success, the waiting time is maintained between three and five minutes, coffee is prepared with the best beans and served with proper temperature, and the bar is cleaned regularly with attractive furniture for a good environment. Another fundamental factor is the marketing strategy employed. The caf? is located in an urban area where there are three coffee shops in a single street. Hence, the ability to reach out to most people in the surrounding will directly reflect on the total sales. Finally, the location of the caf? also matters a lot. It is situated in a busy street surrounded by many offices. Therefore, a lot of workers visit the caf? during breaks and when meeting friends.

The analysis above has presented a personal plan of how I intend to improve the BizCafe business through careful planning, advertisement, and proper staffing. It has been revealed that the central intention is to attract working individuals as the primary target. The use of magazines and fliers for advertisement, adequate staffing, and a unique logo is the leading strategy to achieve the plan. It has also been established that customer satisfaction, location, and marketing are critical success factors.
