Concrete pump trucks are an important part of the construction industry for conveying liquid concrete. With these machines, concrete can be placed to great heights, depths, and distances. In the 20th century, many designs of concrete pumps were invented, Schwing was the one to invented the twin hydraulic design in 1957. This design of concrete pump truck quickly became the standard design for concrete pumps, by most manufacture worldwide The twin hydraulic concrete pump works by one piston drawing liquid concrete into a cylinder from a hopper while the other one simultaneously pushes its concrete out into the discharge pipes

As the demand for pumping concrete to new heights and distances the older design of 1957 was unable to handle the requirements, the construction industry needs a new design that was capable of pumping concrete to the required heights. It was Schwing again In 1982 that had invented the Rock Valve design. The new Rock Valve was able to deliver what it was intended to do, pump concrete higher and further than ever before. Schwing was able to design a concrete pump truck with 50% less wear than its predecessor. This was accomplished with the concrete only scraping against one side of the valve at any one time. This design is still in use today and the standard for most concrete pump trucks.

Concrete pumps had revolutionized the construction industry before the invention of the concrete pump cranes were used to deliver concrete to the top of the buildings. The cranes were only able to live one bucket of concrete up at a time making this a time-consuming and costly process. This method also required a lot of manpower as the buckets would dump concrete mounds, this would leave mounds of concrete and worker had to work hard to level it out.

Concrete pump Trucks have changed the way concrete is placed, Pipeline is set up floor by floor with a boom arm at the top. Connecting the concrete pump on the ground floor to the top floor where concrete was needed. When a floor is completed the boom arm is moved up to the next floor some more pipeline is added and they are ready to pump concrete on the next floor. Pumping concrete is much faster than the crane method. Concrete pumping has many benefits it can place concrete faster, less manpower is need, and it saves time. Concrete can be pumped 20 meters per hour up to 150 meters per hour depending on the pump's culpability. The boom arm can place concrete where it is needed, less manpower is needed to level the concrete because the pump can place the desired amount where ever it is needed. This method in the end saves the construction company time and money.

Concrete pump trucks are not only used for big projects like condos. Nowadays some contractors are using concrete pump trucks on a wide variety of jobs like basement floors, driveways, sidewalks, back yard patios, reattaining walls, footings, and much more. Concrete pumping is much more affordable now than before. A lot of companies offer concrete pumping services in Toronto, Canada, Boom pumps and Line pumps are radially available.
