Way to Clean the Fuel Tank of your Car

If you want to clean the fuel tank of your car, then different kinds of acid available in the market. The most commonly used acid in the car is the Muriatic acid which is also known as the hydrochloric acid for cleaning the fuel tank. For performing the cleaning process, you need to take an immense amount of care. If you want to clean the fuel tank at home, then you can use the cleaning products like acetone, vinegar, detergent, hot water, etc.
Fuel tank cleaning process
For cleaning the fuel tank, first, you need to empty the tank for removing its content because without emptying the tank, you are unable to clean the tank. Make sure that you have completely drained out all the gasoline components of your car such as petcock, rubber hoses, etc. After that, clean the tank thoroughly with the fresh gasoline because the normal gasoline may contain sludge and other impurities. By putting the gasoline, you can shake the tank which helps them to dislodge the particles from the corner of the tank. The empty tank can help you to separate the container.

There are several cleaning products are available in the market for cleaning the fuel tank in your car. Here are the procedures to clean the fuel tank effectively.
Vinegar
The vinegar used in our food contains acetic acid that is used in your car for dissolving the rust placed inside the tank. For cleaning it, you can pour the vinegar in an empty fuel tank till its brim. After you fill the vinegar, close the tank and leave them for the whole night. In the next morning, pour out some vinegar from the tank and shake the left vinegar in the tank vigorously. At last, empty the left vinegar and use little bit baking soda into the tank and keep them aside for half an hour. For cleaning the tank rinse it with water.
Acetone
For cleaning the fuel tank, you can also use 2 to 3 quarts of acetone in the tank and close its all holes by using a drywall screw. You can pour 1 quart of acetone into the tank for cleaning it and shake the tank appropriately. After the process, stop for a bit and check that the rust is coming out or not. If the rust is coming out, then resume the shaking process and remove the acetone from the fuel tank into a sludge bucket.
Detergent
The most effective and common method for cleaning the fuel tank of your car by using the laundry detergent combined with the hot water. For cleaning it, you can pour the mixture of detergent and water in the tank for an hour or two. After the process, pour the mixture out of the tank and wash it with hot water again. If anything left after the process, then you can repeat it until the tank is clean completed.
Clean the tank using Acid
Apart from these products, you can also clean the fuel tank of your car with the right quality of cleaning acids. You can clean it with below procedures.
Rinse in acid
For cleaning the fuel tank, you can use the phosphoric acid by wearing thick rubber gloves and glasses for protecting your eyes from the fumes of acid. First, pour the hot water into the tank until it is full, then add a half gallon of acid in it. Then after closing the tank with a cap and leave them for 2 to 3 hours to settle the mixture in the tank. Then dispose the mixture from the tank properly.
Clean them with water
After rinsing them with acid, the next phase is to clean the tank water thoroughly. For cleaning the tank, you can spray the water with a hand pump and clean the nook and every corner of the tank.
Dry the tank
You can use the hair dryer to dry the fuel tank because if you leave them to dry, then it will take several days. The warm air coming from the hair dryer will reach all corners and nook inside the fuel tank. After the drying process is over, don't leave them filled the tank with gasoline.
Fill gasoline in the tank
After all the cleaning procedures are completed, then you can refill the tank with gasoline. Make sure that you will fill the tank with gasoline immediately, otherwise, the tank started to rust again.
