Step1: Purchase good quality coffee beans:
Always choose fresh and whole coffee beans from the roaster within a week or so of it being roasted. If you cannot buy freshly, roasted beans go for a vacuum-sealed bag from a national coffee bean roaster.
Step2: Buy a grinder or grind it in the store:
A Burr grinder will be a better option than a normal blade grinder. Fresh ground coffee is tastier than coffee kept for more days.
Keep trying different ground sizes. Coarse grounds result in a less bitter brew than finer grounds.
Step3: Use good water:
If you like, the taste of water from your tap, you are likely to get good coffee. Using mineral waters can make a tasty brew. Avoid distilled or soft water. However, filtered water can reduce the chemical taste of some tap water.
Step4: Purchase a funnel, unbleached filter, and a kettle:
Many coffee aficionados suggest that the pour-over, the single-cup method can make excellent and richest black coffee.
Step5: Keep the funnel on the cup to hold the brew:
Use a proper size funnel that can hold your whole brew and keep it on the cup. Pour about three teaspoons of ground coffee into the filter before you prepare the black coffee. Focus on the weight of the coffee beans.
For two or two and a half oz (60 to 70g) per liter (4.22 cups) of water, you can follow this method and can adjust according to the size of the coffee cup
Step6: Keep the kettle on flame:
Keep the kettle on flame and stop it before it reaches a boil. The ideal temperature to brew the coffee is 200 degrees Fahrenheit (93 degrees Celsius).
Use less hot water for darker roast approximately 195 degrees Fahrenheit (90.5 degrees Celsius). The temperature should be 207 degrees Fahrenheit (97 degrees Celsius) for a light roast.
Step7: Set your timer:
Wet the coffee with the first infusion using two ounces of water. Wait a few seconds and repeat, repeat for four minutes and until water is gone. Make sure the filter does not overfill.
For darker roasts use shorter brew time and longer brew time for lighter roasts and finished!
