Cerebral Angioplasty cost in India
Posted: Apr 24, 2021
Cerebral angioplasty is a minimally invasive procedure to initiate a carotid artery that is narrowed or blocked.
Carotid arteries are blood vessels that bring blood to the brain and throat. They are located on either side of the throat. The carotid may be partially or completely blocked with a substance called fatty. A plaque is a substance made of cholesterol, cholesterol, calcium, protein, and cellular waste.
A blockage can reduce the source of blood from the brain. Some areas of arterial plaque may rupture and others may congest. A partial obstruction is known as carotid artery stenosis. If the mind does not get enough blood source, a stroke can occur.
Symptoms of a blocked Carotid ArteryPatients are confronted with symptoms such as stroke or mini-stroke / transient ischemic attack (TIA):
Sudden headache
Sudden weakness of limbs or face
Dizziness or loss of balance
Vision impairment in both eyes
Trouble talking or understanding
Type of processEndarterectomy: an operation to remove plaque from inside the artery of the neck.
Carotid angioplasty with stent placement (CAS): an operation between inserting a small metal stent (wire mesh) to open an artery and placing an open artery to prevent additional blockage.
Indications for endarterectomy
Endarterectomy is a more traditional procedure, but it is effective and safe to deal with obstructed or narrowed arteries for the following problems:
Once the congestion is 50 to 79 percent the carotid artery further experiences symptoms such as stroke, mini stroke, or transient ischemic attack (TIA).
A severe (80 percent) interruption without any indicator.
Indication for CAS process
Cas is a great option and may be a favorite due to these reasons:
Once a person becomes too ill to have a carotid endectectomy
When the operation is difficult due to the position of this narrow artery
Once the first person has had a throat or carotid surgery
Once there is radiation in the throat of the person.
Before process
If you are having a carotid operation with a stent, your groin area will be shaved and ready for surgery.
during the process
You will receive general or local anesthesia in the throat or groin depending on the operation
The operation will last for about 1- 2 hours depending on the type of congestion
For endarterectomy, the surgeon makes an incision in front of your neck.
The plaque is removed from the artery
The embryo is then fixed by a natural graft, where a piece of vein is removed or a woven patch in the body
For a carotid operation with a stent, small electrodes are placed on your chest to monitor your heart rate and rhythm through the operation.
After a tiny incision is made in the groin area, a small catheter is placed around the throat, with congestion under the advice of an X-ray.
During the catheter, a contrast material is injected directly into the carotid artery in the obstructed cells and the blood circulation to the brain
A filter is placed outside the narrowing to catch any debris that may have been removed while processing
A balloon tip will be inserted into the narrow and inflated to push plaque into the artery walls and also initiate passage.
A small metal tubing called a stent is inserted into the artery to prevent excess coagulation
Filter, catheter and, the balloon is finished
The incision does not require any stitches, but pressure is used to stop the bleeding, and a dressing is also done on site.
Post process
You may need to lie down after the operation to stop some bleeding.
You can stay in the hospital overnight but depends on your physical health
You may experience soreness around your neck under an endectectomy operation.
Under CAS, the surgical site can be swollen or dislodged for a couple of days, but it may be normal.
An ultrasound of the carotid artery may be taken annually to check for re-deposited plaque.
Medications will be given to reduce any pain
You may need to avoid strenuous activities for at least 24 hours after the operation.
Lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise may be required
Follow-up will be scheduled.
Risks and complicationsAlthough surgery is safe, it is not without complications, however, it is minimal.
