In recent weeks, more and more news has appeared about a phantom tournament - a kind of European Super League. They say that this project will not only transform modern football, but also completely destroy it. This topic is especially relevant now, as UEFA is losing confidence. European Super League: project, clubs, money

In recent years, a lot of information about the tournament has appeared in the media. But in most cases, these are either rumors or snippets of data. However, Der Spiegel managed to get hold of documents, which outlined the main provisions of the future (and possible) tournament.

So, it is assumed that the tournament will include 16 teams. 11 of them will get a place in the tournament immediately for 20 years without the risk of being demoted. The other five teams are not guaranteed stable participation in the tournament. Another tournament will appear, the participants of which will fight for promotion. Consequently, the worst of the five teams will be relegated to the so-called second division. The best teams in the second most important competition will advance to the first division. 11 untouchable participants of the tournament will remain in the elite, despite the results at the end of the season.

The main goal of the Super League is to unite the largest and most financially stable teams, among which the bulk of the income will be divided. The money is supposed to be huge. In theory, the tournament matches will attract millions of viewers. This is due to the fact that each fight of this tournament will be akin to the semi-finals or the final. Consequently, broadcasters will be willing to pay any money for broadcasting the tournament. The stadiums are also expected to be sold out. But this is all in theory.

According to Der Spiegel, the 11 untouchable clubs will include Juventus, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, PSG, Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Milan and Barcelona. At first, it is planned to invite also Atletico, Borussia Dortmund, Roma, Inter and Marseille. But these teams will not have immunity from demotion in class. Any of these five clubs could be relegated to a lower division after their first unsuccessful Super League season.
