Vehicle servicing:

Vehicle servicing is a regular check and maintenance of the vehicle to inspect any faults and to check its roadworthiness. Unlike MOT, it is not mandatory but recommended to upkeep its fitness.

Requirement:MOT:

MOT must be carried out after three years of its registration, and after that, it should continue every year. It is a mandatory test specified by the Ministry of Transport of the government of the UK.

Vehicle servicing:

It is recommended by the ministry of transport and vehicle professional to frequently carry out car servicing. But it totally depends on the owner whether he keeps driving without servicing for years. But, that is not possible, as people have to take their cars for regular servicing.

Types: MOT:

The types of MOT range from Class 1 to Class 7.

Class 1 MOT is the test for motorcycle vehicles with engines up to 200cc.

Class 2 MOT is for powerful motorcycles with engines of more than 200 cc.

Class 3 MOT is for three-wheel vehicles and motors.

Class 4 MOT is the test for cars that have up to eight passenger seats.

Class 4A MOT is for passenger cars and minibusses that have nine to twelve seats.

Class 5 MOT is for private passenger vehicles and an ambulance with more than thirteen seats.

Class 5A MOT is for passenger vehicles and buses with thirteen or more seats.

There is no class 6 MOT test but Class 7 MOT, which is for goods vehicles including lorries, transit vans, trucks, and high-tops. There are many Mot For Van where these big carriers can get tested.

Vehicle servicing:

There are three types of car servicing:

1- Interim servicing:

It is a basic service that is designed for high-mileage drivers. For those that cover more than 20,000 miles per year. Oil and filter change, brake repair, steering, and suspension checks are a part of this service. Interim servicing has to be carried out every six months.

2- Full Servicing:

A full service also known as an intermediate service is a kind of service for those that cover more than 12,000 miles. It is recommended to have full servicing after every year. It undergoes a thorough inspection of the car’s electrical and mechanical system.

3- Major Servicing:

Major servicing is the third type of vehicle servicing that is also called Master or Gold service. It is recommended for those that go past 24,000 miles in a year. It is recommended to have the services every 24 months. It inspects and covers all parts of the car for their maintenance.

Costs:MOT:

The prices of MOT are fixed and vary from type to type. The Class 1 MOT costs £29.65 and Class7 MOT costs £58.60.

Vehicle servicing:

There is no fixed price of services, therefore the cost of services differs from type to type and company to company. The cost of services also varies with the model of car so, there is no standard range.
