Gestures in smartphones help the users to do things quickly with less effort. Both iPhone and Android users can use gestures to unlock/lock, take screenshots, and start the music. In Android devices, the gesture feature is nothing new, but after the iOS 14 in iPhone devices, users can also use gestures through some third-party apps. By using the Back tap on iPhone, users can do several activities like launch apps, open camera, capture screenshot and a few more things.

Back Tap on iPhone

People who are using an iPhone, they need to set up the device first. The Back tap is a new feature that was added in iOS 14. So if anyone is willing to use this new feature, their device must be iPhone 8 or above, or the device that supports the Tap to Wake Up. People who are using iPhone SE, can’t use this feature because of the lack of sensor.

So if anyone is using a compatible smartphone, they need to go to Accessibility>Touch>Back Tap to activate the shortcut, and choose what task it should perform. Users can also activate and configure Triple and Double-tap to perform different tasks instantly.

Luckily, the users have multiple options to configure which shortcut they want to be assigned on double and triple tap. Users can assign wake up Siri, lock screen, capture screenshot, and open the Control Center shortcuts on double and triple tap. By using the gestures, users can also launch VoiceOver, several accessibility shortcuts and also Magnifier features.

Another great thing users will see is Siri Shortcuts, including the customized shortcuts. Users can assign any shortcut, which means the possibilities are completely endless. Additionally, the Back tap can be configured to perform record photos/videos, get information from the web, work with files and many more. The biggest and the most helpful thing for the users will be Siri shortcuts because it will help users to open and perform any task through a single command.

Back Tap on Android Device

For Android users, the back tap can be a bit complicated because it’s not an in-built feature. However, there are chances that Back tap feature might arrive in future updates of Android 11. Currently, if anyone tries to find the Back tap feature in Android devices, they won’t find it, even in the latest Pixel devices.

However, some third-party apps have filled the gap. There’s an app named Tap, Tap, which runs on the latest Android devices. The Tap, Tap application is currently in Beta version, so some users might face some bugs while using it. So if anyone wants to download this app, they have to bear the risk of lag and some other errors. Tap, Tap is currently not available on Play Store, so users will have to find it on Google.

After downloading and installing this app, users will have to test out the tap sensitivity and make the application working with the Accessibility. In order to understand the tap, users have to link the app with accessibility service. The major thing every user must be aware of its battery consumption. If the app is consuming a lot of battery and shutting down automatically, then they’ll have to wait for another update to arrive.

After opening the main page of the Tap, Tap application, press the Double Tap Actions and Triple Tap Actions and choose a task that takes place after the command. Users can set tasks like activating Google Assistant, capturing a screenshot, launching a particular application and many more.

Conclusion

For iPhone users, using gestures is pretty easy because, after the arrival of iOS 14, it is an in-built feature, but things are just the opposite with Android devices. People who are using Android devices will have to download a third-party application or wait for the in-built feature to arrive.
