We all know that microbes such as bacteria and fungus tend to attack our food but very few of us know that they attack our skin too? Yes, microbes flourish well in warm and moist environment which they get easily on human and animal skin or scalp, warmth due to body temperature and moisture due to weather. But these microbes are harmful for us, as they feed on skin, causing many skin diseases. Hence, we need antimicrobials that can help us in fighting against diseases caused due to microbes.

TYPES OF ANTIMICROBIALS

  1. Primary antimicrobial: they act against the bacteria or fungi and try to kill those microbes that are already present.
  2. Secondary antimicrobial: they stop the further growth of microbes. already present or anticipated to grow.

FORMS OF ANTIMICROBIALS

  • Creams: many anti-microbial or micro-biostatic creams are available on the market, and are quite effective too. However, these are not much user friendly as they are very messy and oily.
  • Powders: these are medicinal powders just like talcum powder with antimicrobial action; quite effective but have a shortcoming, that they don’t stick to the area of contact for longer time, and do not reach inside the layers of human or animal skin as it dusts off very easily.
  • Lotions : few are useful and effective in case of humans, but if there is some infection or wound around waist, such as a ringworm infection, an individual can’t apply them on their own.

SO WHAT’S BEST TO FIGHT MICROBIAL INFECTIONS?

The answer is the sprays. The antimicrobial sprays are effective, easy to use, and do not increase the chance of cross infection to self from one part of the body to another or from one person to another. These can not only be used in case of human skin infections and wounds, but also for animals and veterinary cases. If your dog or cat has a wound or a skin infection, you would not want to catch an infection, but you can’t ignore it due to delays in appointments with the veterinary doctor. Hence, you must keep this kind of antimicrobial spray handy in your bag and have your beloved pet free of the symptoms of the infection such as itching.

CONDITIONS WHERE SPRAYS ARE HELPFUL:

  • Ringworm
  • Wounds, cuts and burns
  • Skin lesions in animals like sheep (post sheering)
  • Flies repellant
  • Pain or itch during infection
  • Eczema
  • Foot and mouth disease in cows and cattle

These anti microbial sprays are similar to antiseptics and disinfectants and very easy to use. These do not require any prescription of a doctor and this is the reason why these are gaining more popularity among people.
