Plastic Pipes are widely used in different applications for transferring liquids and gases. These pipes are available in different materials which makes plastic pipes suitable for every application requirement. As they are available in a variety, it is important to choose the right plastic pipe so that it works well during its application. For finding the right plastic pipe, a number of factors need to be considered such as thickness, size, and pressure and temperature resistance. Listed below are some tips you can consider while choosing plastic pipes:

Choose the pipe material

There are a variety of plastic pipe materials available in the market. So, before you choose any material, you should know the difference between all the materials. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) are the two most widely used materials. Apart from these two, specialty plastics are also available in the market which is mainly used in the transportation of chemicals and corrosive materials. Some commonly used specialty plastics are polyethylene (PE) and polybutylene (PB). So, you can select the right material according to your application.

Select a strong pipe material

It is important to select a plastic pipe material which is strong enough to withstand damage. The strength of the pipe can be determined according to the pipe’s ability to resist cracking. While PVC and CPVC are known to have low impact strength, specialty pipes such as PE and PB have high impact strength of 10.0 which makes them a very strong material.

Check chemical resistance

Plastic pipes are most commonly used in applications where chemicals and corrosive materials are used. So, it is best to choose a pipe which shows resistance to chemicals. PB and PE pipes do not corrode when they come in contact with chemicals. PVC and CPVC show medium level corrosion resistance.

Check pipe under different temperature conditions

It is also important to check if the pipes work properly under different temperature conditions. While CPVC pipes are suitable for carrying materials having temperature below 180 degrees Fahrenheit, PVC pipes can carry materials which have a temperature ranging from 120 to 150 degrees. PE and PB specialty pipes are known for carrying materials which range from 200 to 210 degrees Fahrenheit.

So, you can take into account the above listed points when you are choosing plastic pipes to be used in your project. You can source good quality Plastic Pipes from reputed Industrial Plastic Pipe Exporters.
