A CT Angiogram is the next generation of x-rays. It has many advantages over the older methods of angioplasty and coronary artery stenosis surgery. These include a faster recovery time for the patient, minimal blood loss, and smaller incisions. Although these benefits have been noted, it is not known how they actually work.

A CT Angiogram uses two thin, tube like tubes to take pictures of individual arteries. One tube is positioned into the area of interest while the other tube is placed into the vessels containing iodine. By placing the appropriate dye in the vessels containing iodine, the technologist is able to identify blocked arteries. If the blocked artery is not identifiable through the use of an angiography, the CT Angiogram is using to eliminate other possible causes of chest pain.

Another advantage of using a CT Angiography is that there is no need for radiation exposure. Radiation exposure is one of the major risks associated with various types of angioplasty surgeries and this procedure avoids it by using low dose of radiation. Another advantage of using a CT Angiogram is that there are less pain and scarring associated with this type of treatment compared to a conventional x-ray procedure. With a CT Angiogram, the technologist can identify the exact location of the blockage so that it can be removed before significant damage occurs to the blood vessels or the brain.

In a traditional CT Angiography, the dye is applied on the artery to be examined. The machine uses a small hand held device called a cannula to inject the contrast material inside the blood vessel so that it can clearly view the affected area. The contrast material is usually made up of a dye and a tiny pump that will allow the audiologist to determine the location of the blockage. A radio signal is sent from the machine to a computer that reads and interprets the information.

The CT Angiogram has many advantages over the standard angiography. It can be performed quickly and non-invasively. The patient does not have to remain in the hospital for a long period of time as there is no incision involved. Moreover, the treatment may need to be repeated many times to achieve the desired result. The cost of this invasive test is also minimal as compared to the standard invasive test.

The CT Angiography is a minimally invasive treatment which helps in the detection of blockages in the blood vessels or the brain. This minimally invasive technique helps to treat all types of diseases like heart disease, vascular tumors, stroke etc. This specialized imaging process has been very helpful in detecting head or neck cancer. The images produced by the CT scan can show the location and the intensity of the tumor or the lesion. You can even analyze the images to get an idea about the course of treatment that will be given to you by your doctor.

Your CT Angiographer will remove the contrast material from your body through small incisions and place it in the machine that produces the images. They will then inject the dye into the image and the pump will start moving the dye through the blood vessels. You will have to remain in the hospital overnight for getting complete recovery from your illness. You can take the images one to two hours prior to the scheduled time of your cardiac CT scan.

If you are suffering from a heart attack, you will have to go for a CTA Angiography which is a less invasive process. A CT Angiographer will remove the contrast dye injected into your veins and arteries during the procedure. After removing the contrast dye from the vessels, they will insert a tiny camera into your body through one of the tiny holes in your skin. This camera will help the physician to see the position of your vessels and coronary arteries better. After this, the physician will give you the intravenous medications and will monitor your heart beat.
