Best Tips to Convert Your Home into a Perfect Lockdown Abode

We have never spent as much time inside of our homes as we have during the lockdown. To not get frustrated with the mundaneness of it all, we must keep revamping the home from time to time and enjoy our time spent in it. Through easily doable makeovers of the house, we will feel less trapped and be able to live comfortably. Be it one of the luxury apartments in MumbaiThane or one of the 2 BHK flats in Goregaon, a transformation during the lockdown will exude positive vibes and make your home liveable.

Furniture Rearrangement

The same furniture setting may become dull, especially since you tend to see it day in and day out. Try and rearrange the furniture to bring a change. This may also be beneficial to create some space to fit in your workstation or create an exclusive unwinding corner for yourself. Make sure your furniture doesn’t block any windows or doors to ensure ample sunlight and ventilation. You may notice that the views from certain windows are scenic or provide peace of mind. Keep your sofas and chairs facing them to enjoy those views.

Use Fairy Lights Creatively

Fairy lights tend to add warmth and have a certain mesmerizing feel to them. You can add these to any room to make it magical – either behind the curtains or creatively within an empty wine bottle to use as a lamp. These days, one gets fairy lights with clips to add small photographs to them – this is quirky and reminds you of the people who mean a lot to you but you are unable to meet these days.

Create Space for a Workstation

It is very important to distinguish between your area of work and other areas of your house. Try not to work from your bed or couch as you must separate your workspace from your place of relaxation to unwind at the end of the day. Unknowingly, this affects us subconsciously as we start associating our places of relaxation with our workstation and are unable to relax or sleep there when we need to take it easy.

Accessorize

A planter to add greenery, a throw across the couch, a rug for the floor, funky pillow – floral, cheques, neon coloured for your couch – these accessories will spice up any room. Most accessories are movable – so be it a lamp, a bean bag or candle stands – they can change the vibe of the room. Once you get bored of them, you can mix and match or place them in a different room to change the setting of that room as well.

Create a ‘me time’ Corner

Choose a corner in the home either in the bedroom, living room, or even the balcony where you can spend some ‘me time’. Make this area cozy by adding a furry rug, some scented candles, fairy lights, a statement artwork, and your favourite books. When you want to take time off, this will be your go-to place in the home.

A Statement Wall

Lockdown comes with a lot of experimenting – till last year it was Dalgona coffee and banana bread, this year experiment with the house. Order a tin of paint, choose a wall and bring it back to life. Go for bold colour and even if you go wrong, there is nothing to worry about as you can’t host people for a while.

Distressed Furniture

This DIY option can be done if you have an old shoe cabinet or a chest of drawers – paint it with a colour of your choice and then use sandpaper to scrape it after a few days. This will give it a distressed look which is very in these days. A distressed piece changes the entire aesthetic of a room.

When in Doubt, Mary Kondo

Human beings are hoarders by nature. We always think of that one remote possibility when we may require a certain thing and then don’t end up discarding it. Now is the time to de clutter. Apart from being therapeutic, in a place like Mumbai, if you have one of the many 2 BHK flats in Goregaon or Versova, you need the space for things you actively require. Get rid of the mess on your desk, bedside table, TV cabinet and make room for some plants, greenery, and open spaces.

Try out these things to transform your home into the perfect lockdown abode.
