Basic information about the national testing agency ( NTA )

Let us discuss NTA. What is NTA? National testing agency, which was established as a premier, specialist, autonomous and self sustained organization conducts entrance examinations. It is supposed to hold and organize examinations for students to get admissions in higher educational institutions. It has been approved by the union council of ministers. Let’s read about what types of examinations it conducts, but before that you should know about the eligibility criteria to appear in those examinations held by NTA.

The first one would be JEE MAIN. To begin with, there are no such age limit restrictions for aspirants who are wishing to write JEE main exams. So if you ever happen to think that it’s too late for you to pursue these examinations, then you are wrong. You can always apply for the same. Although there are no restrictions on age, to be able to write the examinations, you must have passed your class 12 examinations or any equivalent qualifying examination. This is the minimum degree requirement for you to write an exam held by NTA (National testing agency). For those who have a class 12 degree, it is crucial to have passed in at least five subjects, if you wish to write JEE. Those who have not passed a minimum of five subjects will not be allowed to compete in the examinations.

You must be wondering which five subjects we are talking about here. The subjects we are referring to are language / physics / mathematics or chemistry / biology / biotechnology / technical vocational subject or any other subject. So, this was the eligibility criteria for you to be capable of writing the JEE mains examinations. Now let’s discuss the eligibility criteria for: NEET UG. NEET UG is conducted by the national testing agency itself. What are the requirements for you to be able to write this examination? To appear for NEET UG exam, all aspirants must have mandatorily completed seventeen years of age. If you are applying for admissions at any medical college then you must write NEET UG, and to do that, basically you have to be above 17 years of age. If not, then you must attain the required age on or before Dec 31 (last day of the year) of the year admission. Now the second eligibility criteria for students to be able to write NEET UG is that you are allowed to write and attempt the examinations only three times. After which, you will no longer be eligible to write these examinations.

Now let’s discuss the types of examinations that is conducted and organized by the national testing agency. The examinations are as follow:

  1. JEE MAIN
  2. NEET UG
  3. GPAT
  4. CMAT
  5. NCHMCT JEE
  6. DUET
  7. DU JAT
  8. IGNOU OPEN MAT

Now, you may wonder, how does one exactly apply for an examination of choice held by the national testing agency (NTA)? Well, here are the steps:

  1. STEP 1: The first step to appear in the examinations would be to fill the application form. How? You can find the application form on the official website and thus, through the mode of being online, you can fill it up. Once you have completed and filled in the application form with the necessary details and requirements, you will then be asked to pay the application fee for the respective examinations. You must also keep in mind that the fee which is collected for the application form varies from one type of examinations to the other. So the fee for the application form really depends on the choice of your examination.
  2. STEP 2: The second step would be to download the Admit card which you will receive once you are done filling the application form, pay the fees and hit submit. In order for you to download the admit card, you must visit the official website. You must also provide your application number and date of birth/ password in order to download and access your admit card.
  3. STEP 3: The third step would be to appear for the exams conducted by the national testing agency. Candidates need to appear for their respective examinations. You should also keep in mind that the patter of the question paper varies for each type of examination.
  4. STEP 4: The last step would be the declaration of results by the national testing agency (NTA). The NTA releases the results for all types of examinations which have been held on the official website. In order for you to check your result, you must use your roll number and date of birth to gain access. In the result, you will find the candidates name, exam qualifying status, marks secured, ranks, etc.
