Wedding Musicians for Your Big Day
Posted: Jun 25, 2021
You have got engaged to your loved one and have decided on your date, and it seems like you have a thousand and one things to arrange.
One of the first things you will most likely do is to find your perfect venue and book your perfect wedding musicians. Like so many couples today, you more than likely love your music and want to hire the best live musicians for your wedding day, but there are a few things you need to check first with your venue before you put down a deposit.
Firstly, check that live music is allowed and is a sound limiter fitted. If there is no sound limiter, then you are only limited to the space allocated for a band. You may want to hire a band for your evening entertainment ensuring all your guests will be up dancing the evening away. On the other hand, if your venue has a sound limiter this could reduce your options on which musicians you can hire.
A sound limiter is a device that monitors the volume of the band. The device will switch off the electricity supply to the band if it exceeds a set decibel level for a continuous length of time. Most venues have a limiter set at between 90-95 decibels but it could be less than this at some venues.
String Quartet for Hire
A string quartet is one of the most popular choices for a wedding ceremony, with the option of not only performing classical tunes, but more modern pop and rock tunes. This also makes them perfect for an afternoon drinks reception, providing relaxing background music.
Acoustic Singers
An acoustic guitar singer is probably the first-choice artist with young couples for a wedding as they are adaptable and cost-effective.
They can perform background music at a drinks reception or perform a song or two at the ceremony, and when it comes to the evening party, they can perform more upbeat songs everyone can dance along to. Even an acoustic duo, trio or four-piece would also be suitable when a sound limiter is fitted at the venue.
A singer, double bassist, guitarist and percussionist, which could be Cajon in place of a drum kit, is a great option.
Other acoustic options are roaming bands which would be more suitable for an outdoor reception in the sunshine. A roaming or sometimes called a wandering band will mix with your guests while performing their songs, providing great entertainment for family and friends.
Wedding Saxophonist
A wedding saxophonist can deliver smooth background music or even play to backing tracks providing higher up-tempo tunes. A sax player is a versatile musician that can easily switch it up from cool laid-back music to upbeat Ibiza vibes to kick off any evening party.
A saxophonist can play all genres of music like pop and rock to soul or Motown tunes for example.
Jazz Bands for Hire
Jazz exploded in the 1920s and is still cool and fashionable today. A typical jazz band could consist of electric guitar, drums, double bass, trumpet and piano. A three or four-piece jazz band is a great choice for sophisticated background music at a drink’s reception. Jazz bands for hire come in many different styles and formats, including cool, bebop, free and of course popular swing.
These are just a few options for your wedding day music if the venue you have booked has a sound limiter fitted.
