While washing our face is a very basic ritual embedded in our daily routine, it is important to understand why and how it is to be done.

After a rough day of work, it is important to cleanse the face at night to remove the whole days’ impurities and dust. Also, during the nights, our skin repairs itself, hence it is important to clean the face and prepare it to rest and rejuvenate.

This process is something we all take very lightly. We all know the importance of cleansing our skin regularly. But did you know doctors and skin specialists suggest that cleansing of the skin is to be done twice every day? The most recommended time is the morning after one wakes up and at night before going to bed. This helps to remove excess oil and other impurities from the face.

When we start our day, it is ideal that we have a clear and fresh start with our skin too! This includes cleansing our face from within and getting rid of all the dust and bacteria build-up.

Tiny glands which are present under the skin produce a natural oil called sebum that protects the skin from any pollutants in the environment. Whether you use makeup or not, cleansing the skin is vital as it removes grime, makeup, dirt and oil that has been built throughout the day. Avoiding a proper cleansing routine may result in blackheads, breakouts and acne too. Excessive build-up of dirt or bacteria on the skin can cause blockages of the follicle which results in trapping sebum, sweat and the dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. Some of the other issues that result because of not cleaning properly are spots, ageing, irritation in the eyes, etc.

Engaging in cleansing twice a day also helps to boost and maintain a proper level of hydration. Proper and regular cleansing helps clears pores of debris and allows the sebum oil to reach the surface of the skin. This in turn reduces the chances of any breakouts and clogging. Regular cleansing aids in giving a radiant natural glow and keep the skin healthy and fresh.

Our skin is always exposed to pollutants and irritants and hence cleansing twice a day helps fight and protect our face.
