Different types of Home Care service can be obtained in the following categories: Assisted living facility (acting as a facility instead of an individual's home), custodial or personal care, residential treatment and nursing care. Receiving care from a skilled care aide is also included under the category of residential treatment and nursing care. Then, there are different categories of home health care such as in the home, assisted living, skilled care, palliative care, and specialized care where medical equipment is used. After receiving care from any of these services, your loved one will need assistance in mobility. The following is a discussion of services that are included under each heading: How To Start a Home Care Business in Kansas?

As already mentioned, there are two main categories; home care services for individuals or families, and long-term care services for aged individuals or those requiring long-term nursing care. You should also know that short-term home care and long-term care services are distinctly different. Short-term care services, which may include direct assistance with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and using the bathroom; may be rendered at home or at a temporary care facility. Long-term care services on the other hand, entail specialized care or help from a trained professional whenever a person requires nursing assistance.

For example, home health care services for people receiving care from the hospital, doctor's office, or a skilled nursing facility may involve the services of a physical therapist who helps with exercise, rehabilitation, physical therapy, wound care, and occupational and speech therapy. Such services are needed when the patient needs help walking, using the toilet, or performing normal daily functions. Then there are home health care services for people needing specialized care such as physical therapy for the treatment of patients suffering from diseases such as Parkinson's disease or Multiple Sclerosis. In addition, home health care services such as home ventilation, physical therapy, and electrotherapy may also be required for such people.

Another important type of home health care service is private pay in home care. The term 'private pay in home care' refers to the routine maintenance such as cleaning, laundry and light housekeeping performed by people who receive nursing care but are not certified nursing personnel. Most of the time, people who engage in this type of care prefer to perform these tasks at their homes because they can monitor the condition of the patient better than if they would perform them at the receiving care facility. However, some nursing homes require their employees to have at least a high school diploma or the equivalent. Private pay in home care usually employs part-time licensed practical nurses (LPNs) who work two or three day weeks as nursing aids and are supervised by licensed registered nurses (RNs).

Another type of service is home health care nursing. This term refers to the provision of short-term and long-term nursing care. These services are most commonly provided by home health agencies and by nursing homes. The most common services provided by a home health agency include bathing, feeding, regulating diet, administering medication, providing assistance with walking and medical equipment, and providing medical procedures like blood transfusions. Patients on long-term nursing care usually need more services and receive less individualized attention than those needing short-term care. Long-term nursing care usually requires a hospital stay.

Another type of service provided by the nursing care industry is home health aide care. Home health aides are professionally trained individuals who are allowed to visit the patient's home to provide personal assistance. They can perform various duties like helping the patient to brush their teeth or prepare a meal, helping to bathe the patient, providing help with dressing, changing clothing, emptying garbage cans, and similar tasks. Some home health aides even help the patients exercise and bathe if they choose. Although home health aide care does not provide the same level of personal care as nursing care, the service provides an essential service to the residents of a patient's home.
