Hydraulic cylinders renovate hydrostatic energy to mechanical energy. These cylinders are considered as actuators or motors capable of producing force. However, hydraulic cylinders get their power from hydraulic fluids which are pressurized. These cylinders are also called linear motors.

There are basically two types of hydraulic cylinders generally used in construction industries:

The Tie Rod Cylinders and the Welded Body Cylinder

Tie rod cylinders

The hydraulic cylinders tie rods are used in the automotive industry, machine tools industries, transfer lines, plastics machinery, and other manufacturing industries. The main quality of this cylinder is its compact space-saving design, making it particularly appropriate in the manufacturing devices of different kinds.

Key features of tie rod cylinders:

  • Wide mounting range
  • Compact design
  • Limited stroke length
  • Limited piston diameter

The bottom and top of these tie rod cylinders, along with the cylinder barrels, are connected together through four tie rods. Comprehensive tie rods on the base or head of these cylinders may be used for mounting these tie rod cylinders. Sub plate mounting and threaded hole options are also incorporated in the broad mounting range of tie rod cylinders.

Their typical parameters are:

1. Piston: 25 to 360 mm2. Nominal pressure: up to 200 bar3. Piston rod: 16 to 250 mm4. Maximum stroke speed: 0.5 m/s5. Maximum stroke length: 2,000+ mm6. The tie rod styled cylinders can be totally disassembled for repairs and services.

The NFPA or National Fluid Power Association’s guidelines have ordered to standardize the dimensions of tie rod cylinders. That enables cylinder from diverse manufacturers to exchange within the same mounts.

Appearances of tie rod cylinders:

The tie rod hydraulic cylinders come with the features stated below:

1. Base clevis & steel rod clevis 2. Durable black powder paint coat 3. Clevis meets ASAE aspects4. 100% tested5. Individually boxed &bagged 6. Seals from the North America7. Plated tie-rods and powder coats allows coverage 8. Side port configuration9. Needs no packaging

Tie rod styled hydraulic cylinders use high power threaded steel rod(s) to hold the 2 end caps on the cylinder barrels. This method of creation is mostly seen in factories with industrial applications. Undersized bore cylinders generally have four tie rods, whereas large bore cylinders might necessitate as many as min. 16 or max. 20 tie rods so as to hold on to the end caps below the tremendous force produced. Each part of these cylinders can be entirely taken out and then joined again pertaining to different situations.

Essem Engineer’s tie rod hydraulic cylinders are made with a lot of key features, for instance:

  1. They have single-piece extra-long detachable rod bearing prepared of ductile iron, contributing to its extended service life as compared to bronze.
  2. Consists of advanced wear-challenging sealing systems that provides increased performances& less downtime.
  3. Cater to precise centering of tubes as of the head to end cap, to get rid of seal extrusion & tube seal leakage.
  4. Has added strength & corrosion resistant with higher-tensile steel rods amid rolled threads.

In Essem Engineers we follow the guidelines set by the NFPA to manufacture the hydraulic cylinders tie rod as per the set guidelines and make them durable for their extra working.
