Where do you start with Digital Experience Management System
Posted: Jul 22, 2021
When one thinks of Digital Experience Management system, the first name that come to mind is Google. Google has actually mastered the art of Digital experience management and that is apparent from all their platforms and products. The clean and intuitive user interface of the flagship search engine platform (which is actually being the world’s most searched website in itself!) with customised and real time content for each and every search is unparalleled.
In addition to that clearly laid out structure allows the user to search the various categories of content, be it text, videos or Images, that too in the preferred language. This of course, has not come through quickly, but with years of research into User experience and understanding each aspect of human behaviour with respect to anything and everything digital. The same kind of research and effort to create a unique at the same time uniform experience is also reflected in other Google products such as maps, Alexa and even Google meets.
When a Company starts its business or is trying to grow it, it obviously cannot match up to the extent of focus and detail that Google places on the Digital experience due to obvious difference in Investment in Research and development of technology that Google has put in over the years. But it can of course start with creating the basic framework and list of steps that it can take over a period of time to come even close to the benchmarks that have been set in User Experience by companies such as Google.
The Digital experience does not just mean application of technology on any human task. If that would have been the case, a simply scanned and uploaded image of a hand written note uploaded on the internet would also count as a digital experience. The digitisation is one part of the overall Digital Experience Management System.
To create a good digital experience system, following steps need to be followed:
First and foremost, Study the user behaviour and do a basic research on the client expectations.
Once as a company, you are sure about the expectations, the product team should collaborate with the Technology team to create a feasible yet detailed design of the product or platform that would match up to those expectations or simplify User Interface
Third is to create the required technology that sits on the backend to make that platform or product work in the same way it was designed to work. For instance, the Operating system in a mobile phone integrates all design elements together to give that unique experience to a customer. Without a good technology, great design would fail to satisfy the client’s requirements or expectations and vice versa.
Lastly, the delivery of the platform or the product to the user or potential user needs to be as effective as the product itself. For instance, no matter how good a website’s user interface be, how unique its offering be, if its load time is high or is not optimised for the same experience on different devices like Tablet or Mobile, the company would definitely start feeling the pinch sooner or later as the bounce rate would start going up over a period of time as customer’s today have paucity of time and humongous amounts of choices.
Although there are brilliant products and platforms that have set high benchmarks in digital experience in the industry they belong to. Some of the noteworthy examples that a keen enthusiast of digital experience systems should definitely do some research on, in our view are:
Amazon: E commerce and Cloud Services
Wise: Financial Services
Apple: Mobile technology, Music and electronics
Shopify: B2B Commerce
Tesla: Automobiles
ICICI Bank : Digital Banking
