Core Six Competencies For Chartered Management

For preparing a perfect Competency Report, applicants must know about the core six competency sections for Chartered management. The sections are described here.

1. Advancing & Enhancing Current Best Practice – This is compulsory for applicants through the academic manner. This section includes six core competencies, each asking for a minimum of 3 years of experience. This section of competency is important to provide evidence that they have gained from their working experience. The six core competencies are:-

  6. COMPETENCE 3.1.6 Promoting Access to the Professions, Equality, and Diversity

2. Advancing and Enhancing Construction Management Knowledge –

This section deals with four core competencies. This competency section is optional for those applying via the academic way depending on their research-based additions.

  1. COMPETENCE 3.2.1 Planning and Producing Research Outputs
  2. COMPETENCE 3.2.2 Collaborating and Applying Research Outputs in Industry
  3. COMPETENCE 3.2.3 Applying Research Outputs for improved Learning and Teaching
  4. COMPETENCE 3.2.4 Understanding and Applying Ethics in Research

3. Advancing Learning & Teaching (meant for lecturers, course developers, and designers) –

Like the previous section, this section is also optional for applicants via academic way based on their experience and achievements related to learning and teaching. This third section incorporates four major core competencies:-

  1. COMPETENCE 3.3.1 Communication (Engaging Stakeholders, the Community, International Partners)
  2. COMPETENCE 3.3.2 Championing the Needs/Interests of Students
  3. COMPETENCE 3.3.3 Contributing Towards or Leading Programme Design and Development
  4. COMPETENCE 3.3.4 Contributing Towards Learning and Teaching Knowledge or Practice

4. Vocational Education & Training - For Training & Development Managers and NVQ Assessors -

This is for all those applicants using the academic route who are doing vocational education in the role of NVQ Assessor or as a Training Development Manager for a Construction Company. This section incorporates four core competencies which are:-

  1. COMPETENCE 3.4.1 Developing Professional Competence
  2. COMPETENCE 3.4.2 Accommodating Learning Needs and Learning Styles
  3. COMPETENCE 3.4.3 Promoting Reflection
  4. COMPETENCE 3.4.4 Promoting Lifelong Learning

5. Leadership and Management - for Managers, Program Leaders, and Heads of Department-

  1. COMPETENCE 3.5.1 Leadership and Strategic Management/Financial Management
  2. COMPETENCE 3.5.2 Developing People or Teams
  3. COMPETENCE 3.5.3 Managing Quality/Quality Assurance
  4. COMPETENCE 3.5.4 Managing Information/Knowledge Transfer

6. Commitment to Professionalism-

  1. COMPETENCE 3.6.1 Professional Judgement and Responsibility
  2. COMPETENCE 3.6.2 Commitment to abide by the Rules & Regulations of Professional Competence & Conduct
  3. COMPETENCE 3.6.3 Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
