The restoration of damaged teeth is needed to bring back the normal function and appearance of these affected teeth. The conventional way of doing these restorations used to involve more than one visit to the dental clinic, after which there is a waiting period while the restoration is created in a separate dental laboratory. There is also an uncomfortable part of the treatment that involves gag-inducing dental mould, which will be used to create a model of the patient’s teeth and oral cavity. The benefits of the teeth restoration will only be enjoyed after it is finished, coming from the dental laboratory.

It is now possible to restore the function and form of damaged teeth in just a single dental visit. Ceramic restorations using CEREC technology enables the dentist to create the teeth restorations chair side, while the patient waits during the same dental appointment. CEREC technology eliminates the need to bring the teeth impression to a separate laboratory for manufacturing; this method results in a very precise and aesthetically-appealing restoration.

The technology of CEREC, which is an acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Aesthetic Ceramics, can be used for dental treatments such as tooth-coloured dental crowns, permanent white dental fillings, and with the restoration of chipped or broken teeth.

Advantages of CEREC Technology for Same Day Teeth

Less Discomfort – CEREC technology uses a digital infrared camera to take an optical impression of the damaged tooth. This is a significantly more comfortable process compared to the use of impression moulds, which often triggers a strong gag reflex. The image is then uploaded to a computer for further processing, on the way to the creation of the teeth restoration while the patient waits, during a single dental appointment.

The technology of CEREC also enables the treatment to be undertaken with fewer injections and less drilling, which contributes to an overall more comfortable experience for the patient.

Customised Restorations – Same day teeth with CEREC uses high-quality ceramic materials in manufacturing the tooth restoration chairside. The restoration can easily be customised by the dentist to exactly match the natural shade of rest of the patient’s teeth, resulting to a smile that looks very aesthetically-pleasing and completely natural-looking even after the restoration has been put into place.

Only One Dental Appointment Needed – The treatment is easily completed within one dental appointment, complete with the full restoration of the affected tooth’s normal form and function. There is no need to go through a waiting period while the restoration is manufactured in a separate dental laboratory, during which temporary restorations – which can awkward and uncomfortable – must be used. CEREC technology makes it possible for damaged teeth to be fully restored within the same day that the treatment is done.
