Which Doors are Perfect for the Outdoors?

Posted: Aug 29, 2021
In architecture, a door is a movable structure that allows entrance to a room, building, or another place. In ancient times (or in nomadic communities today as well) it used to be a flattened pelage that could spin on its cusp. The outer doors are not only a means of entry into the home or any establishment but also the very first line of defence in any dangerous situation.
There is a saying that if the beginning of the day is good, the entire day goes well. Moreover, for your guest- the first impression is the last. So, even before entering the house, your guests will lay eyes on your door.
Which Door to Choose?
The door tells a lot about your thought process. The question that arises is- ''Which door should you install in your house? '' There are many options to choose from such as interior and exterior doors based on materials (flush doors, wooden doors, Timber doors, Glass doors, steel doors, etc.). As already mentioned, the door is also the first line of defence and thus strength is paramount.
According to a survey, 95% of people prefer wooden doors to be installed or fixed outside. Now the main obstruction is cost. Solid Wood doors are costly, and many people can't afford them. Traditional wooden doors are also prone to termite and borer attack, which often shortens the life of the door.
The modern alternative to the problems discussed above is a flush door. Flush doors make use of chemically treated wood effectively and efficiently. These doors have a plane surface on both the sides thus they act as a blank canvas to provide whatever designed outlook you may want. These doors are made by building a solid basic structure made of the frame and compactly placed solid wood fillers, and then covering them with veneer face. The compactly placed solid wood fillers, give the doors the underlying strength.
Layers of the door
The inner core of the flush door is made up of solid wood and each layer layer is treated with preventive chemicals that provide protection against termites or borer insects. The first layer in the construction of a typical flush door is the frame which consists of horizontal and vertical components. The horizontal components are called rails and the vertical components in this layer are known as stiles. The gaps between these rails and stiles are filled with compactly placed solid wood which not only provides binding but also the strength to resist bending. The face on these doors is not pasted directly on the core and a layer is applied on it to provide an extra layer of defense and smoothen the face of the door. The flush doors also provide an extra layer of protection by incorporating the patented Glue Line protection for pasting the core and the face layer.
What is Glue Line Protection Technology
Glue Line protection is a patent technology of CenturyPly (one of the major Flush Door manufacturers) which is an additional layer of protection against termites or borer insects. The technology basically provides protection to each layer using the glue line by means of diffusion. It is noticed that diffusion takes place effectively for about 1.2mm and that is why the core components treated with glue line technology have a width of 2.4 mm. The core components are subjected to diffusion by means of "pre-press technology" which is also a specialty of CenturyPly. The chemicals are diffused to the internal pores in the wood and they act as a resistant to the termites and borer insects which provides the flush doors a longer life.
Types of Flush Doors
There are two types of Flush Doors from the house of CenturyPly:
- Premium Flush Doors: These are also known as Club Prime Doors. These Flush Doors are of Boiling Water Proof grade. These are slam proof, swell proof, bend proof and offer high strength. Club Prime doors come with a warranty of 10 years against termite and borer attack.
- Economical Flush Doors: SAINIK Doors are economical range of flush doors from the house of Century Ply. These doors are slam proof, bend proof and resistant to swelling and can withstand different weathering agents.. SAINIK Doors come with a warranty of 5 years against termite and borer attack.
