Self-driving cars mandatory?

Today we read the following article on the national online media:

At first glance, everything seems nice and right, but then, when we think about it, it literally gets stuck. At least two oddities can be observed.

One is the inconsistency of the title of the article itself with one of the proposed European directives, which we have already dealt with on these pages, and the other is the threat of some kind of nationalization of traffic, along with a ban on driving people. At least the latter should not be permissible.

So, in an article, Mark Adams, head of the car-sharing project at Dublin at Toyota, says: " All of these are the first steps towards a long-term vision. In the long run, buyers may become cities.

After 2020, self-driving vehicles may already be mandatory in the city centers. This will be the public transport fleet. People need to get used to sharing these vehicles today.

In the previous period, we will have low-emission vehicles in some parts of the city, and no emissions in others. "

The word "maybe" still gives some hope that all this is just an unsavory joke. It is clear, however, that when it comes to traffic in cities, it is not even a problem in emissions, but in us, the drivers.

At least judging by the quoted. But why would the use of self-driving cars be mandatory in cities if emissions are a problem?

In this case, the site is closed to vehicles with internal combustion engines and the problem is solved. But it's not, obviously they want to go one step further and finally cut off the biggest "problem" that the designers of the cities of the future have, so that everything would go according to their wishes: people!

We humans are unpredictable and therefore unknowingly spoil the "perfect" idea of??a city devised by planners. Not just in the future, but today. The city has some ideas, and the civic initiative sometimes has concerns.

It is therefore a broader problem, the problem of democracy - the city is not owned by the leadership or the planners of the future, but by the people. The obligation to drive self-driving cars is only a step towards displacing residents so as not to hinder development. Let's pour ourselves some pure wine!

The statement that such a self-driving park will be part of public city transport also shows fear of entrepreneurial initiative. If we understand correctly, are the desires to drive around the city only with public service? Will private initiatives to drive around the city be allowed?

As for the announcement that parking spaces will be less and less important when buying a property, the problem is elsewhere: it is a complete blow to the otherwise ridiculous European directive (which is supposed to be in preparation), which commands that after a year 2019 all new construction in the EU have a socket for charging electric cars. We wrote about this flourishing of those who like to adopt directives, but are all the more silent when innocent citizens are shot with rubber bullets and forcibly dragged from polling stations in the middle of their EU :

So will the directive also apply to new buildings that do not have a car parking space?
