Back pains are a common complaint doctors receive every day from patients. Sadly, the older we get, the frailer our bodies become; consequently, we need to take care of back problems when they hit at an early age to prevent aggravation during old age. Here are simple pain management solutions for reducing back problems that don’t need to spend a lot.

Sit Up Straight

It is surprising that most back problem issues are associated with our posture. Technology has bred a generation that always sits hunched over a Desktop computer, laptop or when scrolling a Tablet. Practicing to sit up aligns the spinal discs properly reducing the strain in the lumbar muscles. Sitting up straight when working or reading from the PC can take care of lower back problems.

Stretching

Lack of exercise contributes to tense muscles, which includes back muscles. Most of us are always on-the-go and don’t have time to throw in a few work outs to keep fit. Tensed muscles strain when moved which may produce some level of discomfort. This can translate to mild back pains which only need a simple stretch every day to take care of the problem.

Change Your Mattress

Another source of back discomfort is the mattresses we sleep in. When a mattress loses its density, the body lies curved which hunches the back. Prolonged use of worn out or poor quality mattresses leads to muscle aches and if the targeted muscles are those in the lumbar vertebrae, this will register as back pain. Back pain from bad mattresses always show symptoms immediately you wake up. Throbbing back muscles makes you drag through the day and having a constant feeling of discomfort. The only remedy here is to invest in high density mattress; it may cost a fortune, but it’s the best choice for preventing lower back pains.

Home Massage

A massage from your spouse or family member could be all that is required to offset back pains. It is an inexpensive form of pain management that doesn’t require an expert masseuse to perform. With simple essential oils bought from a health store, a dose of back rubbing every evening is enough to cure mild back pains. Massage relaxes the tense muscles from running around all day.

Soaking in the Tub

A bath tub filled with lukewarm water and two cups of dissolved Epsom salt is enough to take away back problems. Epsom salt is known to improve nerve and muscle functioning by reducing tension and stress. The salt is easily absorbed into the skin and in only half or full hour, you will start feeling the results take effect.

An alternative home remedy is applying capsaicin containing lotion after a warm bath. Capsaicin provides a soothing sensation to the whole body which also reduces body aches in any parts of the body.

If these simple pain management solutions don’t produce the expected results, then you may need to see a physician about your problem. There are other forms of pain management therapy like acupuncture, chiropractic therapy and Tai Chi.
