If you are a teacher in Montessori school or a child care expert, you must have seen many children with learning disabilities. There are many types of learning disabilities like Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, ADHD, and Dyscalculia. These are some commonly found learning disabilities amongst kids that, most of the time, make their life tough for kids at school. They face difficulty in picking things up majorly because their brain functions differently. However, today’s technological revolution has made it extremely easy for parents and teachers to indulge children in various activities to help them overcome such difficulties.

Besides technology-based activities, there are umpteen extracurricular and co-curricular activities that can help kids with learning disabilities succeed beyond the regular learning environment.

Here you can find a few simple solutions that to help your kids learn:

Theatre/drama: Children with learning disabilities needs confidence boosters that would make them feel they are no less. You can enroll your kids in theatre or drama class as these types of activities help kids with dyslexia a lot. While reading scripts, they will be able to enhance their reading fluency, vocabulary, and accuracy; and they do not feel stressed or burdened while doing so. In addition to this, theatre and drama are creative outlets that would let them express their feelings much confidently. Moreover, this is also a fun way to encourage kids to interact with others and improve their social skills.

Learn by doing: Each child is unique, so their way of learning is also different. In Montessori Brea CA playschools, some students are quite hyperactive and impulsive than others. The usual chalk and board methods of teaching do not go well with these kids. Traditional ways of teaching-learnings are not able to sustain their attention for long, and owing to this they lag in the class. Teachers need to think of various types of learning engagements where these hyperactive kids feel engaged and can learn new concepts through hands-on activities.

Interactive learning: Different kids have different learning requirements and depending on their specific strengths and limitations you mold your teaching methodologies. Children with autism have certain limitations as they can not communicate and interact with others like many other kids. But this does not mean that they don’t want to learn; it is just their way of learning is different from others. You can think of interactive ways to help these kids learn and feel confident.

Personalized learning: As parents, you should respect the uniqueness of your kids and create personalized learning paths for them. Kids having learning disabilities like dysgraphia or dyscalculia need personalized learning solutions and that should be based on their IQ, learning style, learning gaps, and competence. In today’s world, artificial intelligence and adaptive learning are actually helping many students to overcome their learning disabilities in many ways.

Voluntary work: You would be surprised to know that voluntary work is an exceptionally interesting way of assisting kids to conquer their learning disabilities. The more opportunities they get to be exposed to the world in terms of communication, the better they would understand how the world functions. This will definitely enhance their self-esteem and confidence.

Every child has its inherent potential to perform according to its strengths and limitations. As parents, you just have to identify your child’s strengths and instead of complaining about the weaknesses, you can help him to work on his strong points and get better at them. According to the Montessori teachers, every problem has a viable solution. Try to find that solution out at the earliest and help your kids fly like a free bird.
