An electric recliner is one of the most comfortable and relaxing pieces of furniture you can add to your home. And once you start using it, you'll wonder why no one came up with this reclining couch sooner! However, like anything else in life, over time some parts of the recliner may need to be repaired. When this happens, you'll have to take out some tools and fix it yourself. It's not so difficult, let us show you how!

  • You will need: Electric Recliner Repair Kit
  • Unplug your recliner from the outlet/receptacle. If it is a battery operated recliner, you will need to remove the batteries.
  • Remove your chair's back by simply lifting it up and then placing the reclining mechanism in a horizontal position (chairs with no backs can skip this step).

  • You should see something like this: [SEE IMAGE ABOVE]. The piece that holds the rod and the wire is called the 'track'.
  • Grab a screwdriver and remove all of the screws you see on the track. There should be four to six of them (A). After removing them, pull down your chair's rail until it separates from the base of your recliner. You will see two things inside: a vertical metal bar (B) and the cord attached to it.
  • At this point, you will need to separate the chair's rail from the mechanism. Just lift up the back of your recliner (the part that is now at a horizontal position), hold it with one hand and pull down firmly on the base of your recliner with another hand until all parts are disconnected.
  • Place your recliner rail in a vertical position. Look inside and you will see two metal bars that were attached with screws (C).
  • They are connected to each other using hooks on one end and loops on the opposite end of them (D). Disconnect these bars. Now, take your vertical metal bar, which you have just
  • removed, and stretch it between the two bars. Attach one end of the loops to hooks attached on either side of metal bar (E). Finally, insert screws into place where they were originally
