Making Passive Income from Your Website
Posted: Oct 18, 2021
Two words: Passive income. Many people dream of making money in their sleep. The good news is, you can, anyone can. In this post, I’ll highlight 6 ways you can make passive income on a website you build.
1. Create a Website DirectoryA website directory is a place where professionals pay to be listed. In return, you bring them quality visitors who may reach out to them for service. If you’re an immigration law firm in Miami, you may join a directory for immigration lawyers in Miami. The same principle can be used for any industry, meaning, you can create a directory trying to get a certain type of professional to join your site. I’d recommend making this free at first as you’ll need quite a bit of traffic to majorly benefit listing owners.
You can also create b2b directories. For example, if your target client creates dashboards for business coaches, you may want to build a directory for CFO’s and then bring in service providers who can service those CFOs’ needs.
2. Advertising SpaceMost people are familiar with advertising their business. But did you know you can host advertising through Google Adsense? This is a platform that you can add to your website fairly easily that allows advertisers to automatically place their ads on your site and pay you for clicks that happen. You should enter into this strategy knowing that you probably won’t make much for the first year while you get more and more traffic to your site.
3. Amazon Affiliate LinksAffiliate links are great if your site includes a list of products or types of products. For example, when target treatment centers and other professionals (while simultaneously targeting patients who needs those professionals), a blog can be created about types of candles for anxiety.
The way Amazon affiliates works is that when people find your website and click on links provided to you by Amazon for specific products, they are taken to that product on Amazon. If they make a purchase, you get a cut.
4. Sell Digital ProductsDigital products are a great way to generate little chunks of money. Whomever is the target audience you’re trying to reach, you can create useful guides or PDFs for a low price your audience can purchase. Here are a few examples: PDFs, Excel sheets, calculators, guides.
Each one of the above examples are digital products that can be bought by any visitor.
5. Sell Online CoursesFinally, selling courses online is a great way to make money in your sleep. While it takes a lot of work to create online courses, many people like to purchase these. You can charge from $10 bucks all the way to $1000 and more. I’d recommend finding out what your target clientele needs and creating resources to answer those needs.
Final Thoughts on Passive IncomePassive income is a fantastic way to add some money to your bottom line. It will take you quite a bit of effort and time to start making good money, but in 5 years from now, your future self will thank you!
