This market insight might be encouraging for a country like India where the youth population is quite high. And today’s youth are wired to get into details of things as much as possible.

So, let’s get on the process of making now:

When carbon is conditioned in high temperature and high pressure as well as in a controlled environment, it turns out to be a diamond. One more added advantage is, such types of lab grown diamonds don’t require any mining andare termed eco-friendly diamonds as well.

Labs usually opt for two major manufacturing methods to perform this.

High Pressure-High Temperature (HPHT) Method

In this process, the very first step to be followed is picking flawless diamond seeds. Because these seeds are the fundamental unit for the carbon that is grown layer by layer over time. Once this is done, technicians put these seeds into lab-created rough diamonds to provide themwith almost similar conditions in which mined ones are made beneath the earth’s surface.

Now, with the help of a cubic press, split-sphere press, or a belt press, those seeds are exerted enormous pressure i.e. approximately 1.5 million pounds per square inch. Moreover, there are extreme heat conditions these are put in which is approximately over 2,700 Fahrenheit (1500 0C).

Such extreme pressure and heat conditions tend to melt them and within the due course of time it turns out to be a diamond. Thereafter, it takes time to be cool down under careful supervision.

Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) Method

CVD method uses those small diamond seeds but some gases are also involved to complete the process. So, lab technicians first put those diamond seeds into a machine called a chemical vapor deposition reactor. This is somewhat like a sealed chamber with high temperature but comparatively very low pressure. Now, the mixture of carbon-rich gases (methane and hydrogen) is added to this chamber.

So, under such temperature and pressure conditions, a plasm is formed by the various chemical reactions of these gasses. Once the temperature starts rising over a thousand degrees, carbon atoms start detaching from the gas molecules and further stick to the seeds. Once these atoms are attached to the seeds, they start growing layer by layer then. So, within its supposed time, new diamonds are formed. Major difference between diamonds grown by CVD method and HPHT method is the diamond shape. CVD diamonds look like a cubic diamond shape and grow in one direction. Whereas HPHT diamonds have fourteen growth directions.

To get the different colours of the diamonds, this method is preferably used widely.
