Prof Gupta is currently active in basic biology research at the Queensland University of Technology in Australia and is the founder of QUASR Queensland Unit for Advanced Shoulder Research & Development. A former Rhodes scholar, Prof Gupta pursued a PhD in Biomedical Engineering with a view to becoming a renowned shoulder surgeon. He also founded the Centre For Tissue Engineering, a renowned centre in Melbourne, Australia. His current interest is in the development of new tissue technologies with a view to enable better tissue repair in the shoulder and other parts of the body.

As a leading authority in shoulder surgery, Prof Gupta co-chairs the Cardiac Surgery Committee of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and is a senior advisor to the American Heart Association (AHA). At the university, he is presently acting as a medical officer for Cardiology and co-leading investigator for the Cardiovascular Imaging Lab. Furthermore, he is currently an expert consultant for the Centre for Complementary Medicine Research, Cardiology and Rehabilitation. The recipient of numerous national and international awards for his contributions to shoulder surgery, Prof Gupta has made important contributions to the Cardiac and Vascular Surgery areas of excellence at Queensland university.

Not only does this university have a well-respected track record in providing outstanding graduates, but it also has outstanding amenities such as its fully-equipped Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation departments.

Dr Edward Czarnet, the Medical Director of Cardiology at Brisbane University is responsible for the establishment of the QSID which stands for Quasr Research and Service. The QSID is responsible for funding, implementing and maintaining a variety of grant programs that support quasr research and service throughout Australia. In addition to his role as Medical Director, Dr Czarnet is also the Medical Director for the Department of Health in the State of New South Wales, a position he has held since 2021. Prior to taking on his current role at QSID, he was the Director of the Orthopedic Surgery Research Unit at Sydney's Robert Wood Hospital. During his tenure as director at the hospital, he was responsible for the establishment of the QSID, the implementation of a comprehensive strategic plan for orthopedic shoulder surgery and the establishment of a center for rehabilitation services for patients with shoulder pain.

In the role of the QSID, Dr Czarnet directs clinical research programs that focus on treating conditions of which there is no cure. This includes patients with conditions such as degenerative shoulder diseases, a condition known as post-traumatic stress syndrome and patients suffering from injuries caused by serious sports accidents. As part of his mandate as a director of the QSID, Dr Czarnet is also responsible for the organization of the annual Royal College of Surgeons' (RCS) Joint Meeting which is held in Brisbane, Queensland, every March. The meeting is one of the largest gatherings of surgeons worldwide and brings together experts from across the world to share new advances in shoulder surgery and other areas of medicine. Dr Czarnet is also responsible for the supervision and training of all board certified surgeons working at QSID.

The other Board Certified QSID surgeon working at Brisbane University is Associate Professor Paul G Johnson. In his role as an orthopaedic resident at Brisbane, he directs the School of Surgery which he co-directs with Dr Zhi Zhong. Dr G Johnson has also spent a significant amount of time as an assistant to a QSID surgeon in China, receiving a Masters degree in orthopedics and Chinese Medicine. Prior to coming to Australia he was a member of the faculty at the University of Otago in New Zealand where he graduated in General Surgery. Dr Zhi Zhong is an Australian QSID and a Chinese Medicine specialist who received his Bachelor of Health Science and Medicine from University of Beijing.

The QSID also has an Associate Director for Clinical Research, Mr David Czyzewski. Mr Czyzewski is also the project manager for the Mixed Reality Technology project which is led by Mr Paul Griffiths, the CEO of Emotient, a hologram based company specialising in computer aided virtual treatment. Mr Czyzewski is also a senior research scientist for Ab Initio, a bio-pharmaceutical company specialising in novel DNA drug therapies and cell optimisation technologies.
