Physical chemistry, organic chemistry, and inorganic chemistry are the three subcategories of chemistry in class XII.

Solid states, solutions, electrochemistry, chemical kinetics, and surface chemistry are all covered in physical chemistry in class XII. Organic compounds including halogen, Alcohol, Phenol, and Ether, Aldehydes, Ketones, and Carboxylic Acid, Organic Compounds Containing (Amines), Polymers, Biomolecules, and Chemistry in Everyday Life are all included in class XII organic chemistry. Similarly, the p-block element, d and f block elements (Transitions elements), General Principle and Process of Elements Isolation, and Co-ordination Compound are all covered in the inorganic chemistry subject of class XII. All of the chapters in their respective sections are equally essential and play a significant role in achieving excellent grades in both board examinations and competitive exams like as NEET, AIIMS, and JEE mains. To excel in this topic, it is necessary to prepare the subject with an adequate plan as well as proper review. Chemistry in general is a lot of fun to play and can also be highly profitable if done correctly. It's also crucial to think about how much to study and where to study. To begin, it is generally advisable to completely read the NCERT and then work through some standard problem books to gain a solid handle on practice questions in order to improve skills. To understand p-block elements, you must first understand what a block is in the periodic table of elements. A block in the periodic table refers to a collection of elements that are distinguished by their atomic orbitals and vacancies, which are essentially their valence electrons. The s-block elements, p-block elements, d-block elements, and f-block elements are called for the characteristic orbitals they correspond to. The block designations (s,p,d, and f) are derived from the spectroscopic nomenclature for an electron's azimuthal quantum number value: sharp(0), principle(1), diffuse(2), and fundamental(3). This nomenclature of blocks based on electrical configuration and the group of elements that are ordered in line with their chemical qualities held by the individual elements have an approximated relationship.

The p block elements, which include elements from groups 13 through 18, are located on the far right side of the normal periodic table. P-block components have an electrical configuration of ns2np1–6. The first element in group 18, Helium, however, is not mentioned in the list.

All types of elements i.e., metals, non-metals and metalloids are included in this block and this is the only one block which consists all three of the types of elements. Basically, p block elements are characterized by the fact that their valence electrons also known as outermost electrons are in the p orbital. Six lobed structures radiate from a center point at evenly spaced angles in the p orbital. The p block has six columns because the p orbital can only store a maximum of six electrons. Column one of the p-block elements, i.e. column one, has one p orbital electron, and similarly, column 14 has two p orbital electrons, and so on. This pattern continues until column 18, which contains six p orbital electrons. The following subjects must be covered in order to prepare p-block elements for class XII Board examinations as well as competitive exams, and they must be covered initially from NCERT, since it is a best book and one may find it quite pleasant while studying it.

  13. Structures of Xenon-fluorine compounds.
  14. Manufacture of NH3
  15. Structure of PCl5
  16. Xenon compounds like XeF2, XeF4, XeF6, XeOF2, XeOF2.
